COVID-19 1:00 PM UPDATE - There are 992 cases in Maryland, with 88 cases in Anne Arundel County. How are you protecting yourself? Based on our reporting, many of you are wearing masks and gloves, with woman outnumbering the men! Does this mean woman in Anne Arundel County are more concerned about COVID-19 than men? Or do men, and the others not wearing PPE, feel more comfortable with the rules of Social Distancing? Those of you that are wearing the masks, are you wearing them the right way? There is a very important point to be made with this simple picture from the movie, The Game Changers. I have done this experiment myself. If you feed someone animal based food vs plant you get a dramatically different looking serum if you spin the blood. This is crucial to understand because doctors usually make you do fasting blood lipids and labs. Yet, heart attacks often happen after eating. In fact, if you measure inflammatory mediators after eating cream vs sugar water there is a dramatic rise in inflammation after the cream but it then subsided over time. Likewise, after a high fat animal meal blood vessels become more spastic and blood more coagulable. This all happens after eating but then fades so you wouldn’t pick this up with fasting blood levels. The stuff that you see in the serum after the fatty animal meal actually causes the blood vessels to stiffen, increases inflammation, increases IGF1 and activates mTOR, and has other substances that have negative physiological responses. Maybe we should be studying lipids after eating rather than while fasting.
