UPDATE: MOONIE IS HOME!!! ❤️🐾

We just found out Moonie Girl is back home at the Moonlite! She came back hungry and missing her collar, but she is SAFE — and we could not be more excited! We’re not sure if someone brought her back or she just found her way home. We had 174,109 views of the video that we posted, 376 shares, and 84,896 different viewers . Thank you to everyone who shared posts, messaged us, kept an eye out, and cared about bringing our girl home. 🩵💛🩷

For those asking, yes — Moonie is a drive-in cat. Drive-in cats are known to help keep rodent populations under control around the property and buildings. Their presence alone can discourage unwanted animals from hanging around. They also become part of the experience — greeting guests, supervising from a distance, and becoming beloved members of the theatre family.

We will be putting her inside when we leave at night until she learns her space better and stays closer to home. In the meantime, we will buy a tracker and put in a cat door that only she can access. Now everyone can come see Moonie back where she belongs — at the Moonlite. 🐱🎬🍿

What is Sunday Swap? Most every Sunday at the Moonlite, we flip the movie order! Since we’re open FIVE nights a week, four nights follow our advertised movie lineup order — but on Sundays, we switch things up for those who want to catch the late movie earlier!

We just found out Moonie is back home at the Moonlite! She came back hungry and missing her collar, but she is SAFE — and we could not be more excited. Thank you to everyone who shared posts, messaged us, kept an eye out, and cared about bringing our girl home.

Does anyone happen to know these people? They were walking down from the Moonlite last night and were seen picking up our cat and taking her with them. A picture of Moonie Girl is in the comments along with a second video of the guy picking her up and continuing to walk. We’re hoping they may have thought she was lost or were trying to help, and we’d really appreciate any information so we can get our kitty back home. She’s wearing a pink collar with a bell. Please message us if you recognize them.

There’s something special about the drive-in community. 🩵💛🩷

Today our friends at the Kanopolis Drive-In in Kansas gave the Moonlite a shoutout while proudly wearing their Moonlite Drive-In shirt! We’re so thankful to be part of a community of theatre owners who genuinely care about preserving the drive-in experience for future generations. We appreciate Jess’s kind words about us and the Moonlite. 

Jess and Tyson are fellow new owners who purchased the drive-in around the same time we purchased the Moonlite, and it’s been amazing connecting with others who understand both the challenges and rewards of bringing these historic places back to life.

Drive-ins may be miles apart, but we’re all working toward the same goal — keeping this piece of Americana alive. Thank you for the support and friendship! 🎬🍿❤️
