ก่อนจะเริ่มพาไปรู้จักหนังแต่ละเรื่อง เราขอชวนมาดูภาพรวมกันก่อนว่า What the Doc! Film Festival ปีนี้เตรียมโปรแกรมอะไรไว้ให้คุณบ้าง
Before introducing this year’s films one by one, let’s first take a look at what “What the Doc! Film Festival 2026” has in store for you.
WTD! 2026 รวบรวมสารคดีร่วมสมัยจากทั่วโลก ทั้งหนังที่บันทึกชีวิตและความเปลี่ยนแปลงของผู้คน หนังที่ตั้งคำถามต่อสังคม การเมือง ประวัติศาสตร์ และความทรงจำ ตลอดจนผลงานที่ทดลองขยายขอบเขตของคำว่า “ภาพยนตร์สารคดี” ให้ออกไปไกลกว่าที่เราคุ้นเคย
WTD! 2026 brings together contemporary documentaries from around the world: films that observe people’s lives and changing realities, films that question society, politics, history and memory, as well as works that push the boundaries of what documentary cinema can be.

🎬 Opening Film
เทศกาลเปิดด้วย “ส่งสการ” ผลงานล่าสุดของผู้กำกับสายเนี้ยบ อุรุพงษ์ รักษาสัตย์ ซึ่งจะฉายเป็นรอบปฐมทัศน์โลกที่ WTD! เป็นแห่งแรก
The festival opens with the world premiere of “Songsakarn”, the latest film by meticulous Thai filmmaker Uruphong Raksasad. WTD! will be the first place in the world where audiences can experience the film.

Our jurors are not coming to Bangkok only to judge the competitions. They are also bringing special programs that invite audiences into their distinctive cinematic worlds.

Mania Akbari, a formidable Iranian filmmaker who explores the body, memory and identity through cinema that is deeply personal, vulnerable and powerful.
◾Khavn De La Cruz
ผู้กำกับสุดเฮี้ยนจากฟิลิปปินส์ ผู้ขนมาทั้งหนังฟิกชัน สารคดี และผลงานที่ไม่ยอมอยู่ในกรอบขนบใด พร้อมโชว์ลวดลายการแสดงดนตรีสดในรอบพิเศษเพียงครั้งเดียว
Khavn De La Cruz, the wildly unconventional filmmaker from the Philippines, arrives with fiction, documentaries and works that refuse to fit into any conventional category, along with a one-time-only live musical performance.
◾อุรุพงษ์ รักษาสัตย์
ผู้กำกับไทยเจ้าของสายตาอันละเอียดละออ ผู้เฝ้ามองชนบท ผู้คน และความเปลี่ยนแปลงของสังคมไทยผ่านภาษาภาพยนตร์ที่มีเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัว
Uruphong Raksasad, the acclaimed Thai filmmaker whose precise and deeply attentive cinema observes rural communities, ordinary lives, and the transformations of Thai society.
◾IDFA Selection by Jasper Hokken โปรแกรมที่คัดสรรเป็นพิเศษโดย Jasper Hokken จาก IDFA หนึ่งในเทศกาลภาพยนตร์สารคดีที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดในโลก จนได้รับการเปรียบเปรยอยู่เสมอว่าเป็นเสมือน “คานส์ของวงการสารคดี”
IDFA Selection by Jasper Hokken, a special program curated by Jasper Hokken from IDFA, one of the world’s largest and most influential documentary film festivals, often compared to the “Cannes of documentary cinema.”
◾“อสูร” (Are We Monsters?) ผลิตโดย Doc Club Originals และคว้ารางวัล Best Short Film จาก Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema (BAFICI) 2026 ประเทศอาร์เจนตินา จะฉายรอบปฐมทัศน์ในประเทศไทยเพียงรอบเดียวในโปรแกรม Special Screening ก่อนเดินทางต่อไปยังเทศกาลภาพยนตร์อื่นๆ
“Are We Monsters?”, produced by Doc Club Originals and winner of Best Short Film at the 2026 Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema (BAFICI) in Argentina, will have its Thailand premiere as a one-time-only Special Screening before continuing to other film festivals.

A platform for contemporary Asian documentaries reflecting the region’s diversity, conflicts and ongoing transformations.

🟠 W Award Selection
พื้นที่สำหรับผลงานของผู้กำกับหญิง ซึ่งถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวและประเด็นของผู้หญิง ตลอดจนประสบการณ์ร่วมสมัย ผ่านสายตาที่แตกต่างหลากหลาย
A space dedicated to films directed by women, exploring women’s stories and issues, as well as contemporary experiences, through diverse perspectives.
Best Woman Director Award - 100,000 บาท / THB 100,000
Jury Prize - 50,000 บาท / THB 50,000
🟠 Short Awards Selection
สารคดีสั้นที่ใช้เวลาไม่มาก แต่สามารถเปิดโลก ตั้งคำถาม และทิ้งแรงสะเทือนได้ไม่แพ้หนังยาว
Short documentaries that prove a film does not need a long running time to open up new worlds, raise urgent questions and leave a lasting impact.
Best Short Documentary Award - 70,000 บาท / THB 70,000
Special Jury Prize - 50,000 บาท / THB 50,000
รวมเงินรางวัลการแข่งขันทั้งสิ้น 1,000,000 บาท
The total prize money across all four competition sections is THB 1,000,000.
