TODAY: Palestinian journalist Mujahid Bani Mufleh, from the town of Beita, south of Nablus, spent 8 months in Israeli prisons, where he was subjected to deliberate medical neglect that led to serious health complications, the results of which dramatically altered the course of his life and forced him into a long and difficult journey of treatment. Mujahid Bani Mufleh is the cousin of Activestills photojournalist Wahaj Bani Mufleh, who took the photos.

Today, journalist Mujahed Muflih sits in a wheelchair, carrying the visible scars of months spent in detention. His health reportedly deteriorated severely after enduring prolonged detention and, according to those close to him, months of intensive medical treatment have followed his release.

The difference between these two photos is not just time. It is a reminder of the human cost that many families continue to carry long after headlines fade.

How many more journalists, children, parents, and ordinary civilians must lose their health, their dreams, and their futures before the world chooses accountability over silence?

History remembers those who spoke, and it also remembers those who looked away.
