FDCP Statement on the Demise of MMDA General Danny Lim

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) mourns the passing of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Danilo “Danny” Lim who died on January 6, 2021 at the age of 65.

As MMDA Chairman since 2017, Lim was at the helm of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) that continues to champion Filipino films. Lim was also instrumental in the policies and decision-making process for the development of Philippine Cinema and the industry as MMDA is part of the FDCP’s Board of Trustees.

“Philippine Cinema recognizes the leadership and dedication of Chairman Danny who supported the vision of a thriving film industry that is championed by the Filipino audience through the MMFF. He was a man of conviction, principle, and character, and we are honored to have worked with him,” said FDCP Chairperson and CEO Liza Diño.

“We laud him for his notable public service. The FDCP expresses its deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of Mr. Danny Lim,” Diño added.

Prior to his appointment as MMDA Chairman, Lim was a Bureau of Customs Deputy Commissioner and military brigadier general.

Rest in Peace, MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim
