The Bakery

The Bakery 'The Bakery' makes exciting work to entertain, engage and evoke audiences, push boundaries and boggle and blow minds!

With a passion for making audiences laugh, cry and feel uncomfortable, the Bakery as a company are committed to exploring new ways of performance that are hilarious, seriously creative, innovative, tight, taught and tuned. The company who formed at Toi Whakkari: New Zealand Drama School during their training have burst into the performing arts scene with a generous body of theatre, comedy, film an

d corporate works and are continuing to push the boundaries of classic forms, techniques and skill. The Bakery’s flag ship show ‘Miss Fletcher Sings the Blues’ has played 4 successful seasons in New Zealand including The NZ International Comedy Festival, Tauranga Arts Festival and Downstage Theatre and has won two awards including Best Newcomer in the NZICF 2012 and the Chapman Tripp Theatre Award for Most Promising Newcomer 2013 (Hayley Sproull). Other works include Short Films ‘A Black Day for Beazley’ and School Night’, Theatre shows ‘Outsiders’ Guide’ (Sell out in the 2013 NZ International Comedy Festival) ‘The Wise Conduct of Life’ (Performed in New Delhi India), and The Bakery Presents: The Marae (performed in Manutuke, Gisbourne) amongst various corporate events. We feel audiences have never seen anything quite like the Bakery and the indefinable nature of the work we have created so far. With a raft of potential and skill, company members Hayley Sproull, Chris Parker, Leon Wadham and Tim Nuttall (Producer), will continue to make exciting work to entertain, engage and evoke audiences, push boundaries and boggle and blow minds!
