The Intrepid British and Irish Film Festival is back from 27 October to 18 November, bringing a brilliant lineup of British and Irish storytelling to our big screens The Embassy, Lighthouse and Penthouse Cinema and Cafe, Wellington!
From wonderfully weird romantic fantasies to gripping dramas, dark comedy and fascinating documentaries, there's something for every kind of film lover.
One I’m intrigued by is Wicker, with Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård, which will have its New Zealand premiere at the festival. Even better that it was made with the creative magic of Wētā Workshop, this offbeat fantasy follows a fisherwoman who commissions herself a husband made of wicker.
There's also Ink, starring Guy Pearce and Jack O'Connell, exploring Rupert Murdoch's takeover of The Sun, Parky, an intimate portrait of legendary interviewer Michael Parkinson, and The Uprising, starring New Zealand's own Thomasin McKenzie alongside Andrew Garfield.
With films fresh from major international festivals and stories spanning the UK and Ireland, this is a fantastic opportunity to experience world class cinema right here in Wellington.
