Te Awamutu's cinema, the Regent Theatre, is renowned throughout the country for being one of a very small number of high-quality provincial cinemas. In addition to an all-round quality movie experience there is also an impressive collection of movie memorabilia lining walls and foyer, taking one back to the early days of New Zealand cinema. The Regent Theatre has been in business since 1932 with D

addy Long Legs being the first film played. Since 1st April 2022 The Regent Theatre's operations have continued with The Theatre Beautiful, a charitable trust to ensure The Regent is maintained and remains a vibrant creative hub, and an icon for Te Awamutu. Having celebrated its 90th birthday in 2022 look forward in seeing you enjoy the cinema for many more years to come.

Well... what a ride! 🎬🍿

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing community for showing up and supporting us these school holidays. These have been one of the biggest school holidays we’ve ever had, and you’ve certainly kept us busy!

We know it’s not always easy during these huge periods, and while we always try our best, we know we can’t please everyone every time. We truly appreciate your patience, kindness, and understanding.

Thank you for choosing your local cinema and helping make these holidays so special. Your support means the world to us. 💛

But as they say… the show must go on! 🎭 The Odyssey has arrived and is shaking up Cinema 1, with everyone who has seen it already talking about the experience. And just when we think we can catch our breath… Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings onto our screens in two weeks!

The popcorn is ready, the lights are on, and we can’t wait to welcome you back for more big-screen moments. 🍿🎥

See you at the movies! ❤️
