As 2025 draws to a close, Cult Cinema Club would like to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along to our Winter Session events. After a (very) extended hiatus, we took a punt not knowing what the outcome would be - but with every show a full house, you supported us with gusto and for this we are so grateful!

We’d like to again thank TECT & Creative Bay of Plenty - Te Waka Auaha Toi Mini Arts Grant, Film Bay of Plenty, The Incubator Creative Hub for all their incredible support and a special shout out to Mount Brewing Co. Brewery who have supported us since day-dot. Absolute legends!

As we sign off for the year, we look forward to seeing you again and wish a chilled & light-hearted festive season to you all! xx

Here at Cult Cinema Club, we love to celebrate the art of independent film making in all its shapes & forms, screening an independent short film to our discerning audiences before each feature film.

Coming up on the 30th of August, accompanying our screening of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, we'll be screening Aotearoa independent short film, SAIL AWAY.
Written by Tama Jarman & co-directed by Tama and Ella Becroft and produced by Ilai Amar, SAIL AWAY tells the nautical tale of Kevin. Working in a sardine factory, Kevin dreams of sailing the high seas. Upon hearing the call of the wild he begins to build a fantastical boat in his backyard, much to the disdain of his family and friends.

SAIL AWAY: 11 min, classified G for general audiences.
THE LIFE AQUATIC with STEVE ZISSOU: 2hrs, classified M (suitable for mature audience, violence & offensive language)
