EXPERIENCED FIRE DESIGNER
Due to an unprecedented increase in workload, AS Fire Design Limited is looking for an experienced Fire Designer ready to take the next step in their career.

Applicants should be familiar with implementing C/AS1 and C/AS2, though if you have architectural fire detailing or Council inspection/processing experience you may also be considered.
AS Fire Design is a small-sized consultancy providing clients with innovative, reliable, friendly service and creative solutions to ensure compliance with the NZBC.
We are located in the Bay of Plenty offering Acceptable Solution Fire Safety Design services countrywide.
THE ROLE
You will be undertaking the writing of Fire Safety Design Reports on a wide variety of projects new and existing buildings, ranging from residential housing through to RSE/apartment complexes, education properties, churches, commercial and industrial buildings.
The focus is on applying Acceptable Solutions to simple, uncommon and complex situations, using understanding of Fire Engineering principles to provide sound tailored and robust advice.
You will be given the opportunity to manage your own projects from start to finish, including developing client relationships, undertaking briefings, fee proposals, writing Fire Design Reports (incl. marking up CAD drawings) and providing construction detailing advice where appropriate.
Our ongoing projects will give you an opportunity to make a difference by assessing existing buildings, communicating fire safety risks to the clients, and focusing remediation efforts on high-urgency items to improve the fire Life and Property safety of existing buildings nationwide.

The role is full-time and based in our Tauranga office, but a suitable candidate can potentially work from home.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
You must be a NZ Citizen or have a full Residence permit.
At least one to two years’ Fire Design experience in New Zealand.
Alternatively, architectural or Council inspection/processing experience may also be considered.
A tertiary qualification/recognised course training is preferred.
Passive Fire Experience with Installing or designing passive fire protection would be advantageous but not essential.
Skills/Knowledge
Good understanding of NZBC C/AS1 and C/AS2, underlying principles, related building regulations and processes, and ability to apply these to specific building designs in the form of a Fire Design Report with annotated drawings.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail.
Ability to interpret building legislation.
Ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Intuition for fire behaviour.
Ability to visualise 3D; spatial conceptual thinking.
Ability to manage timeframes to ensure client deadlines are met, while delivering within financial targets.
Good working knowledge of computers and relevant technical software.
