Opunake’s own little theatre in the heart of town. Everybody’s Theatre started in the 1920s and is now a source of nostalgia for the cinema of yester year and while showing today’s current films. There aren’t many cinemas about that are owned by the town and run by volunteers. So be proud Opunake, and support this iconic part of our community. A darker reimagining of the classic Robin Hood tale, which will see the character as a battleworn loner grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, and who finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman who offers him a chance at salvation.

GET TO KNOW OUR VOLUNTEERS

🍿How did you get involved at Everybody’s Theatre?
Before we even arrived in New Zealand we were eying up the everybody’s theatre - we couldn’t wait to watch a movie there and we imagined how cool it would be to work there ( not realising from the UK it was volunteer led). When we arrived and met Rachel we jumped at the chance to volunteer! We really wanted to give back to the community which welcomed us so warmly!

🎥What is your favourite snack?
My go to snack would be the popcorn! Although now we have started selling Whitakers bars it’s a difficult one to say for sure!

🍿What is the first movie you seen in a cinema?
The first movie I remember watching at the theatre was Hercules!

🎥What is your favourite job here?
My favourite job is welcoming people into the theatre.
