On an overcast afternoon in November 2024, a 66-year-old man in Dallas heads to a local gas station to sell an iPhone to someone he connected with through Facebook Marketplace. What should have been a quick and simple transaction suddenly turns violent when a gunshot echoes through the area.

Families packed the South Florida Fairgrounds on a warm January night, filling the midway with flashing lights, loud music, and long ride lines stretching across the crowded fairgrounds. Children laughed while parents tried to keep up with the chaos of one of the busiest nights of the fair. But near one of the rides, a small disagreement in line suddenly turned into something much bigger.

According to investigators, 30-year-old Raissa De Souza became upset after believing an 11-year-old child had cut in front of her in line. Witnesses told deputies the argument quickly escalated as De Souza allegedly began yelling at the child before grabbing them in front of stunned families waiting nearby.
