Today marks the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), a day dedicated to raising awareness, encouraging solidarity, and standing up for the rights and dignity of LGBTQIA+ communities around the world.

To mark the occasion, we’re looking back at films submitted to previous editions of IFFH that explore love, identity, freedom, belonging, and the many realities of LGBTQIA+ lives through cinema.

Cinema has the power to make people feel seen. To hold space for experiences too often silenced, misunderstood, or pushed aside. Through intimate moments, quiet resistance, and human connection, these stories remind us why visibility matters.

At IFFH, our LGBTQIA+ category welcomes films that challenge prejudice, encourage understanding, and celebrate the many ways people experience and express who they are.

The upcoming deadline is 22 May. Submit your film and join us this November in The Hague!
