The future of live production will not simply bring smaller cameras or faster internet. It will fundamentally change how we capture, produce, distribute and monetise live content.
Over the next 2–4 years, mobile multicamera, REMI, cloud production and AI will increasingly converge into a single production ecosystem. Smartphones, professional cameras, PTZs, drones and automated cameras will operate as interconnected IP sources, feeding central or cloud-based production hubs through 5G, bonded cellular, fibre and satellite connectivity.
For corporate events, this means moving beyond simply livestreaming a conference. One production will simultaneously create the main programme, vertical social feeds, speaker clips, interviews, highlights, translated versions and branded content. AI will accelerate transcription, clipping, captioning, metadata and distribution while production teams concentrate on editorial judgement and storytelling.
Community sport could experience an even bigger transformation. Hybrid productions combining professional operators with automated cameras, smartphones and remote production will make sophisticated coverage economically viable for competitions that could never justify traditional outside broadcasts. Every match can become a media property, generating live programmes, highlights, player content, statistics and sponsor inventory.
Consumer engagement will also move beyond passive viewing. Audiences will watch, vote, interact, purchase, enter competitions, contribute video and engage directly with brands within the live experience.
