Goal + Obstacle = Conflict.

That's the foundation of every compelling story.

If your character wants something but gets it too easily, there's no tension. But when powerful obstacles stand in the way, the audience becomes invested in what happens next.

If you want to make a good movie, write a great screenplay, or tell an unforgettable story, this is one of the first principles you need to understand.

Goal + Obstacle = Conflict.
That's where great stories begin.
