🚨 Abia Govt Makes Traditional Outfits Mandatory!

The Abia State Executive Council (SEC) has approved a new cultural policy that mandates government officials and civil servants to wear traditional outfits in a bid to promote indigenous craftsmanship and strengthen cultural pride.

âś… Under the new directive:

State Executive Council members will appear in traditional attire every first Monday of the month.

Civil servants across the state will wear traditional outfits every Friday.

Announcing the decision after this week’s SEC meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, said the policy is designed to boost the patronage of locally made fabrics and showcase Abia’s cultural heritage.

> “We are aware that there is an ongoing cultural revolution in the state, and we are putting on our locally made fabrics as one way of strengthening that revolution,” Kanu stated.

He further explained that the move will not only promote the Igbo identity but also support local artisans, bridge cultural gaps, and inspire pride in Abia’s rich traditions.

Welcome to the Igbo Cinema Project audition. This is not just about talent; it is about transformation. What we are doing is more than a search for actors—it is a social intervention, where creativity meets security, and idle hands are turned into productive storytellers.

We know the challenges facing our region: insecurity, unemployment, and disillusionment. But the answer cannot be guns or fear. The answer is to engage our youths meaningfully. Film is one of the most powerful tools we have. It entertains, yes, but it also educates, creates jobs, and inspires hope. A young person with a script, a camera, or a role to play has no reason to pick up a weapon.

Through this project, we are reclaiming our stories, celebrating our culture, and showing the world that Igbo youths are creators, not destroyers. Each of you auditioning is not just seeking a role—you are stepping into the role of a change-maker, an ambassador for peace and progress.

This is the beginning of something bigger. Together, through cinema, we can reduce insecurity, empower our youths, and light up our future.

Our rallying call is simple: “Igbo Cinema, Igbo Security—Our Stories, Our Strength!”
