120KM DONE. 🔥🏃🏾‍♂️

What a day!

Tegla Loroupe and refugee athlete Msafiri François have just completed the first leg of the 840KM journey, running from Kakuma to Lodwar in under 10 hours.

That’s 120KM down, 720KM to go.

They’ve given everything today. Now it’s time to rest, recover and get ready for tomorrow.

🏃🏾‍♂️

Today, Musafi François and fellow athletes began the 840KM journey from Kakuma to Nairobi, alongside legendary Kenyan athlete and peace advocate Tegla Loroupe.

But why 840 kilometres?

Because this journey is carrying a message much bigger than sport.

Migration and displacement are central to Tegla Loroupe’s advocacy for peace in Africa. Through this journey, athletes are using sport to raise awareness about the challenges that continue to drive displacement, separate families, limit opportunities and contribute to the loss of Africa's talent through brain drain.

By running alongside refugee athletes like Msafiri François, this journey creates a powerful space to talk about peace, refugee education, healthcare, food security and opportunity.

It is also a reminder that refugees are not only people in need of support, they are athletes, leaders, professionals, innovators and young people with something to contribute to Africa's future.

This run is a message to:

🌍 African leaders: invest in peace and address the root causes of displacement.
🏃🏾‍♂️ Africa's youth: your energy and leadership can shape the continent's future.
🤝🏾 Refugees: your dreams, talents and voices matter.
👩🏾‍🦱 Women in sport: your leadership can change communities and inspire generations.
🌍 The world: peace is not an impossible dream, it is a responsibility we must pursue together.

840KM is more than a distance.

It is a call for a peaceful and prosperous Africa where people can stay, learn, work, create and thrive without being forced from their homes.
