“An incredible life story, one that needs to be shared. Such an important topic has never been addressed with such depth and courage.”
With these words, the director Francesco Bizzarri presented the Visioni dal Mondo Award at the Industry section of Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival to No Mother’s Land, directed by Wiktoria Szymanska-Davis and produced by Monika Braid (Braidmade Films), Wiktoria Szymanska-Davis, Sonja Henrici.
A powerful, urgent and deeply moving project, No Mother’s Land follows years of love, fear, resilience and resistance, telling the story of a mother and daughter fighting against a legal system that too often fails the very people it should protect.
“It enthrals and engages you like a thriller, it makes you feel part of a battle for the rights of the vulnerable. But above all, it is a great story of love between a mother and a daughter.”
The award consists of invitation to participate in the pitching contest of Visioni Incontra, the industry section of the 12th International Documentary Festival Visioni dal Mondo, which will take place in Milan on September 16–17.

Lights on reality. Milan is ready to take center stage once again as the capital of documentary cinema.
The International Documentary Festival Visioni dal Mondo unveils its twelfth edition and officially opens submissions.
Five days, an ever more contemporary outlook, and a notable new addition: space for emerging filmmakers with first or second features and for documentary short films under 30 minutes with the new New Talent Short Docs section.
Alongside this addition, the Festival’s established competitions return, continuing to bring distinctive perspectives on the world: Italian Competition, International Competition, Visioni VR Competition, and Visioni Incontra Competition.
Submissions close on May 31, 2026.

Visioni dal Mondo torna a Milano… con un’edizione ricca di novità!
Dal 16 al 20 settembre 2026 il Festival Internazionale del Documentario accoglierà il pubblico e gli addetti ai lavori per 5 giornate di incontri, proiezioni e nuove storie da scoprire per dare ancora più voce e spazio al cinema del reale.
L’edizione 2026 si svolgerà in un’unica, straordinaria cornice: il complesso del Teatro Litta, dove il Festival prenderà vita con ancora più fluidità, intensità e partecipazione.
Visioni dal Mondo 2026: cinque giorni, nuove storie, una sola location. Save the date!

Visioni dal Mondo 2025 | Concorso Italiano Lungometraggi - Premio Miglior Lungometraggio Italiano Visioni dal Mondo 2025 a "Achille Lauro – La Crociera del Terrore" regia di Simone Manetti.

"Per la capacità di raccontarci una storia di 40 anni fa con la forza dirompente dell’attualità trasportandoci ai giorni nostri segnati dalla lotta per la sopravvivenza della Palestina di fronte alla quale sentiamo la nostra impotenza e un forte bisogno di azione. Inoltre, questo film ha la capacità di realizzare un racconto coinvolgente attraverso un ritmo serrato e testimonianze potenti e preziose".

Ritira il premio Raffaele Brunetti, produttore e co-autore del film.

Visioni dal Mondo 2025 | La giuria ufficiale ha assegnato per la categoria Lungometraggi del Concorso italiano le menzioni a "L'azzurro in alto e l'oro dentro" regia di Pepi Romagnoli.

"Per il racconto lucido e intimo di una bambina che ci offre la sua quotidianità contro la durezza della guerra e il dolore delle separazioni. Con l’augurio di un futuro olimpico alla “bella ginnasta”".
