Facing grief together with a puppet.

Da capo al fine – Sonata in B-flat minor tells the story of Simone, a person with Down syndrome, and of his inner self: a fragile stop-motion double who carries what words cannot always say.

The film touches on the delicate theme often called “after us”: what happens when the people who protect us are no longer there.

For many, it may sound like a practical issue: care, responsibility, organisation.

For Simone, it is first of all something much simpler and much harder: loss.

And through Anna Troiano’s short film, made together with OFFicinadellevariAzioni , that loss can also become, at least in part, a new beginning.

Siamo molto felici di condividere questo articolo del Corriere della Sera dedicato a Marco Pierpaoli, protagonista di Da capo al fine – Sonata in Si bemolle minore.

Il corto intreccia live action e stop motion per raccontare il lutto, il cambiamento e la possibilità di ricominciare. Nell’articolo si parla anche del piccolo pupazzo animato da Res Animata Studio, che rappresenta la dimensione interiore del protagonista e porta nello sguardo gli occhi di Marco, riprodotti attraverso una mappatura dell’iride.

💡 Un promemoria sul giusto smaltimento e riciclo dei piccoli RAEE (Rifiuti da Apparecchiature Elettriche ed Elettroniche)

L’obiettivo? Trasformare i rifiuti in valore. Se correttamente smaltiti, i RAEE permettono il recupero di metalli, plastiche e materie prime preziose, alimentando concretamente l’economia circolare.

Puoi trovare gli appositi contenitori di CEM Ambiente nei Comuni di Cassano d’Adda, Melzo, Melegnano, Trezzo sull’Adda e Vimercate oppure puoi conferire i tuoi RAEE nel centro di raccolta del tuo Comune.

Un progetto per accendere la risorsa e spegnere il rifiuto 🌍🔋

A few days ago, we stepped onto the MIFA Pitch stage in Festival international du film d'animation d'Annecy carrying a vintage briefcase containing three puppets and a miniature concept set.

Today we're heading home with the Cinekid Festival Award – All Categories, and above all with the feeling that INSTAGAFFE has truly started its journey.

Over the past few days we've met producers, broadcasters, artists and filmmakers we've admired for years. We talked about stop motion, international co-productions, comedy, social media, publishing, music... and, above all, about possibilities.

So many people stopped to look inside our briefcase, picked up the puppets, asked questions, shared ideas and imagined where the project could go next.

That's what we'll remember most.

Annecy confirmed that INSTAGAFFE can resonate with an international audience. More importantly, it gave us the opportunity to meet people who genuinely connected with the project and helped us shape what is becoming a truly exciting international co-production.

The award was an incredible honour.

But the real value of this week lies in the people we met, the conversations we had, and the partnerships that are beginning to take shape. (As cliché as it sounds… could this be the One Piece? 🏴‍☠️)

Now it's time to go back to the studio.

There's still a long road ahead, but we can finally see where it might lead.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our little briefcase, shared a conversation, offered advice, or simply believed in the project.

Over the past few months, we've been working on a very special short film together with Officina Delle Variazioni.

A project combining live action and stop motion, brought to life thanks to the contribution of people with Down syndrome, educators, volunteers, artists and many other wonderful people along the way.

For now, we're sharing a few behind-the-scenes moments.

Behind the scenes of INSTAGAFFE.

One of the things we love most about AnnaLaura Cantone Official FanPage's visual world is how everyday objects become part of the storytelling.
-Candy wrappers become decorations.
-Magazine pages become plants.
-A small cardboard box becomes part of a kitchen.

We’re trying to bring that same playful and tactile spirit into the stop-motion world of the series.

Even the smallest details on set are built from recycled materials, paper textures and handmade elements — keeping the imperfect, human feeling alive.
And yes: our characters still don’t have pupils or mouths.
Those expressions are animated in 2D during production (with the collaboration of Marta Sofia Marzullo).
