In an interview for Variety, Rodrigo Prieto, the cinematographer for 'Killers of the Flower Moon', discussed the House Explosion Scene. He said that, as they were about to shoot Leonardo di Caprio (Ernest Burkhart) coming back into the house, Martin Scorsese asked Lily Gladstone (Mollie Burkhart) where her character would be. She replied that she would have gone down to the cellar. While they hadn't planned on shooting in a cellar, Scorsese always pays attention to the actors' opinions, so they scrambled to find a cellar and, having discovered that the house they were shooting in had one, they shot the scene that ended up in the movie.
