♟️🇮🇳 India and Chess - a story worth talking about.

400 teams. 200+ countries represented. 11 rounds. And India once again fighting for medals in both Open and Women’s sections.

After winning both Gold medals in 2024, India has once again shown why Indian chess deserves far more attention. 🏆

And then there’s cricket… 😂
One semi-final/final loss and suddenly 140 crore people become selectors, coaches and analysts overnight. 😭

Cricket ko pyaar karo ❤️
Lekin chess ko bhi thoda respect do. ♟️🇮🇳

Maybe the goal isn’t to love everything that happens to you.
Maybe it’s to decide what you become because of it.

Amor Fati - love your fate.

You don’t have to love the pain.
You don’t have to believe everything happens for a reason.

But once something has happened, you get to decide what you do with it.

I wouldn’t choose everything that happened to me…
but I wouldn’t erase who I became because of it.

**Booked the AC chair Class of Shatabdi expecting a smooth, comfortable journey… only to discover that Indian Railways has its own version of an in-flight turbulence experience. 😂🚆✈️

No announcement, no warning - just the entire coach casually shaking like we’re flying through turbulence. 💀

At least the snacks were served before the turbulence started. 😂**

The biggest lesson I learned from my first HYROX:

Don’t chase the clock. Just finish it.

I saw quite a few people struggling with cramps early in the race, and it made me realise how important it is to respect your first HYROX.

Your first race is not necessarily about getting your best time.

It’s about:
🏃‍♂️ Understanding your pacing
💪 Learning how your body responds
📋 Understanding the stations & rules
📸 Enjoying the experience
🏁 And most importantly - finishing

I took longer than my simulation time, but I was completely okay with that. My goal was to experience the race, avoid unnecessary penalties or disqualification, enjoy the atmosphere, take some good pictures 😂 and get across that finish line.

The people running around you might have done HYROX multiple times. You are doing it for the first time. Don’t compare your first HYROX to someone else’s fifth.

Finish your first one. Go back, analyse what went wrong, improve your training - and then come back and chase the clock. ⏱️

Pharmacovigilance Career Series - Part 5

One of the questions I get asked most often is: “How much can you earn in pharmacovigilance?”

Instead of sharing generic salary figures, I’m sharing my own career journey:

💼 Started my career at around ₹12 LPA
📈 Today: ₹25–30 LPA range as a Senior Drug Safety Physician

This is my personal career journey, not a standard salary path. Your compensation can vary depending on:

🎓 Qualification
💼 Experience
🩺 Role & responsibilities
🏢 Company
📍 Location
🧠 Technical knowledge
🤝 Negotiation skills

Different PV functions can also have different compensation structures - including ICSR, safety operations, signal detection, aggregate reporting, and medical review.

And career growth isn’t limited to one path. Depending on your experience and interests, you can move into senior, specialist, medical-review, team leadership, management, or other specialised PV roles.

So if you’re considering pharmacovigilance as a career, don’t look only at the starting salary. Look at the role, learning opportunities, career progression, and long-term growth potential too.

Pharmacovigilance Career Series - Part 4

What’s the difference between a Drug Safety Physician / Medical Reviewer and other pharmacovigilance roles?

Pharmacovigilance is a broad field with multiple functions, including:

📋 ICSR / Case Processing
🔎 Signal Detection
📊 Aggregate Reporting
👨‍⚕️ Medical Review
⚙️ Safety Operations & Other PV Functions

While all of these areas contribute to drug safety, the day-to-day responsibilities, skills, and requirements can be very different.

Drug Safety Physicians / Medical Reviewers apply their medical knowledge to evaluate the clinical aspects of safety information, while other PV functions focus on different parts of the safety process.

You can also build a pharmacovigilance career across pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, and CROs.

The important thing is to understand which role fits your qualification, experience, skills, and career interests.

💡 Pharmacovigilance isn’t just one job title - it’s an entire career field with multiple pathways.
