The most defining characteristic of the group has to be our fearlessness to experiment – be it in form or in substance. The desire to break away from traditional moulds and create fresh idioms in theatre gave us the courage to experiment. The constant urge to seek out the new, create something afresh, ensured that, in all our productions, we deal with contemporary aesthetics and content. Our absol
ute insistence on innovative and exclusive production value and precision in technique make our productions visually appealing too. 'MAI''s core strength is, undoubtedly, its talented and motivated members who are pivotal players in our growth and success. Thus far in our journey we have produced several Marathi productions that include one-act plays, full-length plays and street plays, a Hindi play for children and a couple of English productions. We have also conducted theatre training workshops for children. The group has so far had approximately 250 performances of all plays that it has produced. We have performed in several cities across India as well as at national and international festivals such as Bharat Ranga Mahotsav Mumbai, Satellite Festival Indore, The Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre, Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards. Apart from the several awards that we have won at various competitions throughout our journey, 'MAI' has received accolades from audience and critics alike. With each new play 'MAI' attempts to venture into previously unexplored territory.
