July 1955 by a great Congress leader, freedom fighter and social worker late Satrughan Saran Singh in the memory of Swami Sahjanand Sarswati, who was a profound thinker, great saint and veteran Kisan leader of his time. er education to the rural youth of Jehanabad herbs, for the last fifty years. It has been converted into Constituent unit of MAGADH UNIVERSITY, BODH-GAYA in the year 1975. The UGC has accorded its recognition under 2(f) of UGC act 1956. away from the main town on the road towards Dhangawa surrounded by lush green agricultural field on the bank of the sacred river Dardha. The college campus is spread over 23.50 acres of land in one plot. It has a ten feet boundary surrounding the land. The campus of college is surrounded by dense plantation & lush green fields, which makes its environment pollution free and provides plenty of fresh air all the time. The main gate of the college is large, specious and architecturally designed with college name and logo inscribed on it. A 20 feet concrete approach path with trees on both sides leads to the three storied large and well planned main building having a length of 650 feet and width 50 feet. The foundation of the main building was laid down by the then Chief Minister, Bihar Keshri Late Dr. Sri Krishna Singh on 05th May 1956. The main building consists well furnished Class-rooms, Seminar Halls, Head chambers, Library, Laboratories, separate Boys & Girls Common rooms etc. In front of main building there is a well-maintained garden with statue of founder Late Satrughan Saran Singh and swami Sahjanand Sarswati. The campus consists of well-developed football ground, Kho-Kho court, Badminton and Volleyball court. On the right hand side of the main building there is a newly constructed administrative block. It imparts teaching upto honours standard in major fifteen subjects of Humanities, Social Science and Science. The Vocational Course being successfully and efficiently managed, U.G.C sponsored vocational course BCA (Hons) is running since year 2000. The total sanctioned strength of Students in this college is about 3000. The unit of NSS and sports helps channelise the youth energy towards positivity. The students of the college occupy high positions at national level after graduation. Nalanda Open University has also opened its unit/centre in college, Which caters to the educational needs of the deprived masses up to Master Degree level. Arun Kumar is the Principal of the college. He has taken a keen interest in its allround development.A new administrative building has been erected in his supervision. He always strive hard to equip all the departments with morden teaching equipments. Network Resource Centre and advance Computer Lab for BCA has been developed due to his keen interest
