twenty vibrant years during which time we’ve broken new ground, nurtured new and old talent, and triggered meaningful engagements with visual art. We’ve hosted and shown artists from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, with our partner Khoj in Delhi; we’ve had a show of Tibetan culture in exile; we run the Sethusamudram Project, an ongoing multi-year partnership between Indian and Sri Lanka

n artists; we’ve produced a beautiful book on GH Krumbiegel, the pioneer- ing German horticulturist responsible for much of Bangalore’s greenery; we run art workshops with rural and underprivileged children in Bangalore and Karnataka; we’ve presented monthly talks by prominent artists, historians and theorists that thousands have attended; we’ve screened odd and unusually lovely films, often followed by discussions with the filmmakers; and we’ve hosted and shown artists from every continent (and virtually every country) in the world.

History was made. Inclusion moved forward. 🌈🏅🇮🇳

For the first time, Indian LGBTQIA+ athletes proudly represented our nation at the International Gay Games 2026, returning home with remarkable achievements that have inspired our community and the country.

The All India Professionals’ Congress (AIPC) LGBTQIA+ Domain, in collaboration with the AIPC Sports Domain, was honoured to felicitate these trailblazing athletes in Bengaluru, recognising not just their medals, but their courage, resilience, and commitment to making sport a space where everyone belongs.

We were privileged to be joined by Ms. Sowmya Reddy, Former MLA and President of the Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress, and Mr. Arvind Narrain, lawyer, author, researcher, and LGBTQIA+ rights activist. Their reflections reinforced a powerful message: that the values of equality, liberty, fraternity, and dignity enshrined in our Constitution must extend to every playing field, every athlete, and every dream.

A special congratulations to Goaty for her phenomenal performance—winning 4 Gold medals and 3 Silver medals across multiple athletics events—and to Sumit Pawar for bringing home Gold in the Javelin Throw. Their achievements are a testament to the incredible talent within our community and a reminder of what becomes possible when opportunity meets determination.

This collaboration between the AIPC LGBTQIA+ Domain and the AIPC Sports Domain marks the beginning of a larger movement. Together, we are committed to fostering conversations, building partnerships, and advocating for policies that make sports safer, more inclusive, and more accessible for LGBTQIA+ persons across Karnataka and India.

At AIPC, we believe that representation matters—not only in politics and public life, but also on the track, the field, and every sporting arena. We remain committed to ensuring that every LGBTQIA+ athlete has the opportunity to participate, compete, and excel with dignity and pride.

This is more than a felicitation. It is the beginning of a movement towards an inclusive sporting future for India.

We invite you to "What The Material Knows," the final stage of a 15-day artist-mentor residency (AASPADA ART SPACE) and open house (Sketches from the Road), at 1Shanthiroad. The opening of the exhibition will be on Thursday, 23 July 2026, at 6 pm. The show will be on view till 26 July 2026.

What The Material Knows
Materials that don't behave the way you'd expect. Some pieces are settled, some still changing—drying, fermenting, reacting—For as long as the show runs. It's what was found when the material was caught mid-process, at whatever stage it was in. Material holds memory before the artist adds any of their own. It moulds the maker as much as it's moulded—sometimes a collaborator, doing half the thinking; sometimes an escape, a way of thinking with the hands when the head runs out. Nothing here explains itself fully. What happens when you let the material do the talking?

epoch Studio/Lab is an artist-initiated project by Bharathesh GD, dedicated to fostering multidisciplinary dialogue and reflective engagement. Functioning as a nomadic platform without a fixed physical site, it develops through collaborations with existing institutions, organisations, and spaces. Conceived as both a studio and a laboratory, epoch Studio/Lab facilitates hybrid discourses and experimental practices, creating a dynamic context for collective inquiry and cultural exchange.

We welcome you to 'Bandwagon Fallacy,' an exhibition by Dushyantha H P, opening on Thursday, 25 June 2026, 5 pm, at 1Shanthiroad Studio/Gallery.

Dushyantha H P is a visual artist based in Bengaluru. He holds an MFA from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, and a BVA from Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat's Dept of Painting. Working primarily with drawing, painting, printmaking and animation, his practice engages with ideas of memory, socio political shifts, displacement, and lived histories. He has exhibited widely, including at the 3rd Print Biennale, Lalit Kala Akademi, Kolkata and at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. A recipient of the India–Sri Lanka Foundation Grant (2025) and Abhivyakti City Art Project Grant (2024), he is also working as an Assistant Professor at Bengaluru School of Visual arts, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. His interdisciplinary practice extends to film, illustration, and public art.

In this exhibition, Dushyantha employs woodcut not merely as a printmaking
technique but as a conceptual framework through which to examine the
shifting social and political realities of contemporary life. Drawing upon the medium’s historical association with social critique and the symbolic dimensions inherent in its process, the artist explores the intersections of identity, ideology, and collective memory. Colour emerges as a central element in this inquiry. Through digital postprocessing, the artist isolates and amplifies signs of toxicity while paradoxically revealing the target’s true colours. Set in stark contrast to the muted figures surrounding them, these hues reveal as potent markers of political affiliation. Positioning himself as an invisible observer, Dushyantha reflects on the moral ambiguities and collective drift that shape the political landscape he knows intimately.
