COMMUNITY SWAP Q&A'S

Not sure what to expect? Here's some answers to some of our commonly asked questions:

👗 WHAT TYPE OF CLOTHES SHOULD I BRING?
- Anything EXCEPT underwear, swimwear, pyjamas, slippers or earrings for hygiene purposes.
- Please ensure clothes are clean, and free from damage, broken zips, missing buttons and stains. Ask yourself "Would I gift this to a friend?"

👗 HOW MANY ITEMS SHOULD I BRING?
- We recommend no more than 10 items.
- Please be mindful that you may not receive the same amount of items back that you originally swapped.
- For every item you donate, you will receive a token to exchange for something you love.

👗 DO I NEED TO IRON MY CLOTHES OR BRING MY OWN HANGERS?
- We will have plenty of hangers here. We prefer creased items to be ironed if possible but we appreciate this may not always be possible.

👗 WHEN CAN I DROP MY CLOTHES OFF?
- From 6.30pm please.

👗 THE CLOTHES SWAP DOESN'T HAPPEN UNTIL 8pm, CAN I HANG AROUND UNTIL THEN?
- Why not come and watch our screening of the documentary ACKROYD & HARVEY: THE ART OF ACTIVISM at 6.45pm? Film synopsis can be read here: https://thewelfare.co.uk/Shows/ackroyd-and-harvey-the-art-of-activism-12a-and-clothes-swap/

👗 IS THERE A COST?
- We ask for £1 entry fee.
- The film screening is £5.70 and includes Clothes Swap entry.

👗 WHAT HAPPENS TO ANY LEFTOVER ITEMS?
- Any leftover items can be purchased as a cash sale.
- After the event ends, all remaining items will be donated locally, either to a local food bank or community charity shop.

If there's anything we've missed, please ask in the comments!

Arabic melodies, Welsh folk traditions, English influences… and probably the most wholesome musical fusion you’ll hear all year.

Panedeni are a cross-cultural ensemble bringing together sounds, stories and instruments from across the world to create something truly special. Their name combines the Welsh word paned (a cup of tea) with Adeni tea from Yemen — because this band is all about connection, conversation and bringing people together.

Based in North Wales, Panedeni blend oud, violin, clarinet, flutes, percussion, bass, vocals and more into a rich folk-fusion sound sung across four languages. Expect everything from hypnotic belly dance rhythms to Welsh border pipes, all woven together with warmth, joy and incredible musicianship.

Their new EP Atamanaa features collaborations with musicians from across Wales and celebrates shared creativity, cultural exchange and the magic that happens when musical traditions collide in the best possible way.

If you love artists like Bab L’ Bluz, Imarhan or Gnawa Diffusion, this one’s for you.

Tickets are Pay What You Can: £8, £10, £12 or £14 — so you can choose the price that works best for you, while helping support The Welfare’s community activities.

The Welsh premiere of White Lies by Robert Shearman.

Claire and Simon have been married for years. At this point, date night is basically duck à l’orange and passive aggression.

Then along comes Roger… an imaginary friend designed to add a little excitement back into their relationship. Because obviously that can only end well.

What starts as a harmless idea quickly spirals into chaos, confusion and some very unexpected consequences.

Written by award-winning Doctor Who writer Robert Shearman, this razor-sharp comedy hilariously skewers modern life, marriage, identity and loneliness with warmth, wit and just the right amount of madness.

From the theatre company behind Shirley Valentine, It’s A Wonderful Life and Casablanca, comes a brilliantly funny and beautifully observed modern comedy gem.

Presented with Pontardawe Arts Centre and Arts Council Wales.

Inspired by a remarkable true story, this gloriously riotous celebration of individuality stars BAFTA nominee Callum Scott Howells alongside the incomparable Rupert Everett.

When the flamboyant Henry Paget arrives in 1890s North Wales to claim his aristocratic inheritance, his dazzling theatrical flair and unapologetic eccentricity send shockwaves through high society — and delight the local townspeople. With the help of his spirited cousin Lily and devoted butler Gelert, Henry sets out to forge his own path as the Fifth Marquess, battling stifling traditions, scheming relatives and the looming shadow of his estranged father.

Our Madfabulous screening also includes Never, Never, Never — a beautiful Welsh-language short film from our friends at Iris Prize.
