Reminder: Tuesday night is Quiz Night at the Magic Lantern, as always hosted by the fantastic Ian & Claire! ✍️🍻

Doors open at 8.30pm, and the quiz starts at 9pm. The cost is £1 per player, payable in cash on the night.

Everyone is welcome — we suggest arriving early to get a table, as these nights are usually very popular and we often have to spread out into the main hall!

Last chance to see these two films today, Mon 13 July.

500 Miles (12A) stars Bill Nighy as a grandfather living on the west coast of Ireland who is estranged from his grandchildren, Charlie and Finn, before they decide to visit him. It’s a poetic and surprising road trip, and a celebration of the human spirit, following a broken family as they’re forced to come together.
Film starts at 2.30pm.

Masters of the Universe (12A) is a new adaptation of the iconic media franchise. After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam back to Eternia, where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor. To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela and Duncan/Man-At-Arms, and embrace his true destiny as He-Man — the most powerful man in the universe.
Film is on tonight at 7pm!

Our last week of discounted screenings before the summer break is coming up. These are the films you can see at a reduced price!

The Last Viking comes highly recommended by Sara. It’s one of those films where the less you know going in, the better. It’s very funny – in a way that makes you immediately feel a bit bad for laughing. It’s violent in a way that makes you cover your eyes, and it has a strong emotional heartbeat.

Eldra tells the story of a Romani girl who arrives in Bethesda to stay with her grandparents. It’s an award-winning drama based on the childhood of the real-life Romani woman Eldra Roberts, a descendant of the famous Abram Wood/Roberts Welsh Gypsy Tribe.
Welsh language with English subtitles

Savage House is set against the backdrop of 18th-century England, a devastating smallpox outbreak, and the Jacobite uprising. Sir Chauncey Savage and Lady Savage blindly pursue a better life. It’s not without a touch of irony that their family name is Savage, for this is a savage house indeed, filled with duels, decadence and bloodshed.

Please note that Magic Mondays are relaxed screenings, meaning they have subtitles, the sound is slightly lower, and the lights remain partially lit. Babies in arms (under 1) are welcome, the bar is open throughout, and our usual code of conduct does not apply.
