Join us for a special screening of Planet Israel, a powerful new documentary from filmmaker Gillian Mosely exploring the political, psychological and social forces shaping contemporary Israel in the wake of 7 October 2023.

The screening will be introduced by Totnes Mayor Tim Bennett and followed by a Q&A with director Gillian Mosely, offering a chance to continue the conversation after the film.

Following the events of October 7, the world watched in shock as Hamas carried out devastating attacks in Israel. In the months that followed, global attention shifted as the scale and human cost of Israel’s military response in Gaza prompted widespread outrage and difficult questions.

In Planet Israel, British-American Jewish filmmaker Gillian explores a deeply personal question: how can a people whose history is marked by persecution, exclusion, and genocide become seemingly desensitised to the suffering of others? And more broadly, how does the moral disengagement that enables violence and atrocities take hold in any society?

This documentary invites viewers to confront uncomfortable questions about identity, history, trauma, and our shared humanity.

The screening will be followed by a discussion hosted by Totnes Mayor Tim Bennett, along with a live Q&A with the film’s director, Gillian Mosely.
