Your reviews speak before you do!
Throughout our lives we all need to hire outside expertise regardless as to whether it’s an electrician in your home or an assistant in your office!
I don’t know about you but the first thing I do is ask people I know who they’ve used and what their experience was like. Then I’ll go straight online to look for someone who’s business has reviews. I have a number of steps - I search their social media for the reviews left on there and I search other sites as well.
I’d rather spend time searching and pay once for a job well done than pay twice to have the work corrected! As a business owner I know how important those reviews are and I’m lucky to have worked with people who have left me brilliant testimonials to use as a part of my marketing. Reviews help build trust. They show real life experiences and proof that your business delivers what it says it will.
Websites like Trustpilot exist as a resource for people to search for your business and see what other customers’ experiences have been like. Whether the reviews are positive or negative can play a big part in shaping someone’s first impression of you before they even get in touch.
Negative reviews can have more of an impact than the positive ones. A poor review, especially if left unanswered, can make future customers hesitate. It can create doubt and affect your reputation in the business community, and it sometimes means people choose someone else before they have even spoken to you.
That does not mean every negative review has to damage your business long-term. It’s how you respond that matters. A calm, professional, and thoughtful reply can show potential customers that you care, that you listen, and that you take feedback seriously.
Customer reviews are not just “nice to have”. They are part of your business presence, proof of your customer service, and your future growth.
Keeping on top of reviews, comments, and customer interactions can feel like another job on an already full list, but it makes a real difference to those customers who are searching for you for the future!
When was the last time you checked how your reviews are representing your business?
