Staines Video Makers

Staines Video Makers Club for the makers of non-professional videos in Spelthorne and surrounding areas We're a long established and thriving amateur movies club.

We currently have around 20 members half of whom are actively involved in making videos throughout the year. Those less actively involved get roped in on our occasional group projects and still have to take their turn making the tea. Full details of the club, our meetings and activities etc. can be seen on our website (see below)

On 17th December members of Staines Video Makers had a Zoom Christmas bash - a very enjoyable evening where we saw new films from various members, some funny numbers from elsewhere, and a couple of excellent revival Christmas films shot long ago on film. We all toasted each other and hope all our filming friends will have an enjoyable Christmas and that in 2022 we will have a Christmas bash in the hall at Laleham.
Merry Christmas EVERYONE!

The 47th Annual Staines Inter Club Competition - and the winner is ......

I've contacted each club with the resulst and won't post here until all have confirmed receipt. Results, a link to where each club can download the films and superb constructive critiques from our judges Robin Lambert and Fiona Leus-Lambert have been sent to one contact per club.

This Friday (14th Feb) we'll be looking again at a short script from MonologueBlogger.com and considering the options for staging and shooting each shot and their impact on the story telling and emotion.

This week (18th Oct) will be a bit of a mixed bag. We'll be looking at methods for shooting in the dark, particularly car scenes in preparatruon for our next club project and may well watch the remaining films from Sutton Coldfield.

This week (Friday 11th October) we will be watching and discussing a selection of films and videos from the extremely talented bunch at Sutton Coldfield Movie Makers https://www.facebook.com/SuttonColdfieldMovieMakers/ Visitors are welcome to come and join us and take a look at a wide variety of some fantastic films made for the love of it rather than to fit a corporate marketing strategy.
7.30pm for 8.00pm at Laleham Village Hall

Sutton Coldfield Movie Makers is a club for people who enjoy making films and want to improve their skills and meet like minded, enthusiastic people.

Yesterday, teams from Staines Video Makers gave film shows to two different groups in the community. Thanks to Allan, Carolyn and Cathy for entertaining all these people and thanks to Ash Ladies and the Landsborough Club for hosting the events and their very welcome donations.

This week we shall be visiting our friends at Surrey Border Movie Makers for their annual Inter Club Competition. Having won in 2016 and 2017 we weren't eligible last year and we'll see how our entry holds up against what we suspect will be some very stiff competition. Whatever the outcome, it's always a very enjoyable evening with each of four clubs bringing their entry and one other film "just for fun" and a chance to meet and chat all things film.

There's life in the old dog yet! This Friday, 13th September, we begin our new season with the lauch of our programme for 2019/2020.

We'll be discussing some members' ideas raised over the summer and I have a script for us to consider which throws up some interesting challenges.

Of course, what we'd really like is some new blood, so, whether you're a budding Hitchcock, Spielberg or Tarantino, or just want to polish your holiday movie, come and join us at 7.30pm at Laleham Village hall. Equipment not needed.
