We would like to say a huge thank you to the British Transport Police for spending the 0.4 seconds to send an automated email to let us know that our vehicle theft is not worth investigating.
And to Bedfordshire Police for closing the investigation before it was even opened 😂.
Apparently it takes too long to look at the cctv footage so I guess the thieves might as well keep thieving 🤷♂️
Dear CARL ANDREW,
Crime Occurrence Number: 2500045799
I am sorry that you have been a victim of crime, thank you for reporting the incident to us. BTP applies the National Crime Recording Standard to make crime recording decisions.
The incident that you reported to BTP on 16/04/2025 has been assessed and has been recorded as a crime. A preliminary investigation has been conducted by a trained crime assessor who has considered whether in all the circumstances, it is proportionate to investigate the crime. This means, based upon BTP’s experience of this type of offence, consideration has been given to the resources necessary to investigate the offence and the likely outcome of that investigation. For example, in an investigation where we are solely reliant upon CCTV as our single source of evidence, we would need to factor in not only the availability of the CCTV, the number of cameras and the hours involved in someone viewing this footage.
Our decision, based upon the information we currently have, is that it is not proportionate to investigate this crime any further at this time. I hope you will understand that we must prioritise our investigations based upon the time taken by officers and the likely outcomes achieved. We prioritise those offences which carry a higher threat of harm to the public and our rail industry colleagues and offences that provide opportunities to detect offenders.
If more information comes to light regarding your crime, we will reconsider this decision and it may be allocated for further investigation, should this happen we will contact you. If you do not wish to be contacted please let us know via email. Based on the information provided to date, this incident will not be investigation further. The decision is in line with the BTP's crime allocation policy.
Please note that if someone from BTP calls you, all numbers we dial from will appear as starting with either 0203 or 0300, on some occasions they may show as withheld. Please bear this in mind when calls are received.
We have based our assessment on the following: the vehicle has been left for at least 2 hours, if you have further information which may change this assessment please let us know.
