Before speed, before power, before technique — root.
Without foundation, strength collapses.
Hung Ga begins from the ground up.

Wong Fei Hung is not just a legend of Chinese martial arts — he is part of my lineage.

For many people, Wong Fei Hung is the iconic folk hero brought to life in film. But within Hung Ga, he stands for something far deeper: a living martial tradition built on discipline, honour, healing, courage, and moral strength.

My lineage is:

Wong Fei Hung
→ Tang Fung
→ Yuen Ling
→ Yee Chee Wai
→ Yee Pedro Cepero
→ Sifu Bruce Clark
→ me (Chris Robb)

That matters to me.

Because lineage is not just a list of names. It is the passing on of knowledge, values, skill, and responsibility from one generation to the next. What comes down through this line is not only martial technique, but a way of being — patience, structure, rootedness, humility, and the strength to stand firm.

Hung Ga is a system forged through hard practice and preserved through loyalty and dedication. Every stance, every bridge, every breath carries something of those who came before.

I am proud to be part of this lineage, and proud to continue that tradition here on the Isle of Bute.

This is more than kung fu.
This is inheritance.
This is living history.

The subject of 100 films, as well as pulp novels and radio plays, Wong Fei-hung was born in the mid-19th century in Guangdong, southern China. Taught kung fu by his father, he is reputed never to have lost a fight in his life.

There’s something Dragon-like in Mike Tyson’s peek-a-boo style.

Not because boxing and Dragon style kung fu are the same system — they’re not — but because the concept overlaps: compact guard, coiled power, evasive movement, explosive entry, and a body that never feels static.

A key idea is ‘appear to disappear’.

Watch Tyson closely. He shifts angle, slips off the centreline, changes level, and breaks the opponent’s visual fix. For a split second he seems to vanish — then reappears in a new line of attack, already firing.

That’s what makes it so dangerous.
Not just power. Not just aggression.
Deception, rhythm, angle, pressure, and sudden re-entry.

Different systems. Similar principle.
Stance work from a master.

This photo is my Bi Sai Sei Moon with Grandmaster Yee Chee Wai.
A moment of deep respect, humility and gratitude.

To stand in the Wong Fei Hung lineage is not something I take lightly. It is more than learning forms, techniques or applications — it is about carrying forward discipline, character, tradition and responsibility.

Grandmaster Yee Chee Wai is a true treasure in the kung fu world. His knowledge of the art is extraordinary. To spend time around him, and around his disciple Master Yee Pedro Cepero, absorbing as much as possible from the way they move, the way they express the art, and the depth of their understanding, was a real privilege.

This was a meaningful moment in my Hung Ga journey. It reminds me that kung fu is not just about fighting ability, but about lifelong study, respect for those who came before us, and dedication to continual refinement.

Sifu Bruce Clark opened the door for me. Sigung and Si Tai Gung expanded that knowledge even further.

Lineage matters.
Not for ego — but for preservation.
For remembering where the art came from, and for honouring the teachers who kept it alive.

Wong Fei Hung → Tang Fung → Yuen Ling → Yee Chee Wai → Yee Pedro Cepero → Sifu Bruce Clarke → us (traning brothers and sisters). A living tradition. Always learning. Always refining. Always passing it on with respect.

Side kick the chaos out of your life.
Root down.
Strike clean.
Remove the doubt, the noise, and the weakness.
Keep what makes you stronger.
Destroy what does not.
Hung Ga is power with purpose.
