The Ultimate Picture Palace is an independent community-owned cinema showing a mix of indie, international, art-house, mainstream, documentary, and classic films. Our single-screen auditorium has 105 seats with a small bar serving drinks and snacks. However, with social distance restrictions in place, our maximum capacity is now around 30. We don’t show adverts, so the advertised time is the actual start time for the film. Other regular special screenings:

Classic Films (Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings). Baby Club (Every other Thursday, 12:00) - screenings exclusively for parents with babies under one-year-old. Wheelchair access
The access to the main entrance of the cinema and ticket office is level, as is the entrance to the screen and bar. The toilets are below the screen down a few steps. However, we have an arrangement in place for our customers to use the facilities of our neighbours. The cinema is just off Cowley Road, on Jeune Street and is easily accessible from the bus stop. There is space for a taxi to stop directly outside the cinema and there are a few disabled parking bays opposite the main entrance.

ZonaSur Cinema Club presents a programme centred on the experiences of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing people, as well as issues of accessibility, representation, and inclusion. Screening of Colombian short film Salsa followed by Argentine documentary Sordo.

🐐 THE VVITCH - part of Shocktober Festival
New England, 1630: William and Katherine try to lead a devout Christian life, homesteading on the edge of an impassible wilderness, with five children. When their newborn son mysteriously vanishes and their crops fail, the family begins to turn on one another. 👁️ LEVITICUS
Two teenage boys in an isolated Australian town are hunted by an entity that takes the form of the person they desire most – each other. Adrian Chiarella’s coming-of-age horror confronts religious fanaticism and its cost to q***r youth.

✍️ LATE FAME
A forgotten poet turned postal worker, played by Willem Dafoe, is adopted by a circle of young admirers hoping to make him their literary figurehead. A wistful rumination on art and authenticity set in New York City.

🧹 KIKI’S DELIVERY SERVICE
A beloved Studio Ghibli coming-of-age story about a resourceful young witch who uses her broom to create a delivery service, only to lose her gift of flight in a moment of self-doubt. Screening plus craft activities presented by Tiny Ideas Festival.

💋 WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN
Pepa’s frantic search for her vanished lover spirals into a whirlwind of jealous fiancées, hostage-taking terrorists and absurd chaos. Pedro Almodóvar’s breakthrough comedy is a riot of surreal humour, bold melodrama, colour and energy. 🇪🇸 Spanish with English subtitles.

🎭 NT LIVE: THE MISANTHROPE
Sandra Oh stars in Martin Crimp’s razor-sharp reimagining of Molière’s The Misanthrope, playing a novelist who refuses to lie in a world built on it. Indhu Rubasingham directs this National Theatre production, filmed live on stage.
