🎬THE WAIT IS OVER. THE MTFF26 OFFICIAL SELECTIONS ARE HERE!🎬

Today is a huge moment for Mansfield Town Film Festival, as filmmakers from across the UK and around the world have officially been notified whether their work has been selected for MTFF26!❤️

This year really does feel different, for the very first time, filmmakers selected for MTFF are joining the programme of an official BIFA-qualifying festival.

It’s a milestone that once felt almost unimaginable when we launched back in 2023, and one that puts Mansfield firmly on the map as a nationally recognised home for independent film.

The standard this year has been extraordinary.

Our Programming and Screening Teams have spent countless hours watching, debating and discussing an incredible range of films, and narrowing them down to our final selection has been no easy task.

But we’ve done it. The Official Selections for MTFF26 have been chosen.🎉

To every filmmaker who’s been selected: CONGRATULATIONS!🏆 Your work will be coming to the historic Mansfield Palace Theatre this September, and we cannot wait to welcome you and share your stories with our audiences.

To those whose films haven’t made the final programme this year, we want to offer our sincere thanks.

The quality bar was higher than ever, and with limited screening time and an extraordinary number of brilliant submissions, we had to make some incredibly difficult decisions.

We’re genuinely grateful that you trusted us with your work and hope this won’t be the end of your journey with MTFF.

This is how our evening at the Midlands Movies Awards went…🤩🎬💙

It was an inspiring night of speeches, networking and community which proved to us what we were already sure of - that the Midlands is the place to be for filmmakers! 🥂

We also personally wanted to shout out the award-winning Director (who we’re also lucky to have as our Assistant Festival Director of Operations! 😉).

Derry has achieved something truly remarkable with The Correction Unit, a production filmed entirely locally, and with a home grown cast of young talent. We know he’ll continue to make amazing features that amplify our voices as a region.

We screened The Correction Unit trailer last year at MTFF, and so it’s truly awe-inspiring to see where the film has gone. While The Correction Unit now continues its journey in theatres around the world, the Midlands Movies Awards is the perfect way to celebrate the people who made it happen here.

Programming? Completed ✅

Led by our Assistant Festival Director of Programming, and supported by our wonderful screener Pamela, the MTFF team faced a huge challenge in finalising the programme for our first BIFA qualifying festival.

We’re so grateful to have witnessed such amazing talent during our screening process, and while we can’t programme every single film submitted (as much as we’d love to!) we came away from this weekend inspired and reminded of why we are so passionate about showcasing underrepresented voices in film.

Filmmakers, we want to applaud you for all your amazing work - we can’t wait to show our audience just how much value your work brings to our world today.

Aaaaand that’s a wrap on what has perhaps been the MOST important day yet in MTFF history 🎬👀

Today was our first day programming MTFF26, our first BIFA qualifying festival.

Kin, our Assistant Festival Director of Programming led a day-long session of carefully discussing and selecting each submitted film with the whole MTFF team, building our programme day by day, strand by strand.

We can’t thank our screeners Courtney and Pamela enough, for joining us digitally and offering their own personal in-depth insights into each film.

We will be committing another working day to programming our festival tomorrow and by the end of the day we aim to have a working schedule for MTFF26 🤝

There really has been nothing more rewarding than seeing the vision of MTFF26 concretely come together.

And to all submitting filmmakers, thank you for being part of the magic 💙🪄 🎬

Our submissions are closed - so what happens next? 👀

We’re so grateful to have the biggest volume of submissions we have seen yet at our festival.

The quality of films have been top tier, and we’re so impressed and honoured that so many filmmakers have trusted us with their project.

Our next key dates are:

🗓️ 15th of July - Our Official Notification Date

On this day, all of our filmmakers will receive an email from us informing them of the outcome of their submission.

🗓️ 31st of July - MTFF26 Programme Launch
