Fylde Film Society offers you the chance to see new and exciting arthouse films on the big screen! Showing fornightly at The Island Cinema St Annes.

Memberships can be purchased for the as follows:

Society Membership – £30.00 provides access to all eight films comprising a half-season. Students with suitable identification pay £20.00. A membership is not required to view individual films. Guests and members of the public are also welcome to join us by purchasing a regular ticket from the Fylde Film Society reception desk. Memberships are avai

lable from the Society’s desk on the night of each screening. Payment can be made by cash or by cheque payable to Fylde Film Society.

Thanks to everyone who supported us this last half season, and for giving us your scores and comments after each movie. It's great to know what you loved (and didn't love!).

Below are the scores for the films we have seen so far this year, in score order. 'I'm Still Here' and 'Rental Family' were your clear favourites.

We will see anyone who is attending at the AGM on Monday, and look forward to seeing everyone again in September for Part 1 of Season 78! Films will be announced late August with the first film likely showing on either the 7th or 14th September.

Tomorrow night!

We have our final film of the season Romeria

To secure her education, Marina must find her birth family. Guided by her mother's diary, she travels to the coast and uncovers buried secrets and long-hidden shames of the past.

Film begins at 8pm sharp no adverts. £6 on the doors for non-members!

Our film tomorrow will be the 2025 Cannes Film Festival Jury prize winner, the German drama:

“Sound of Falling”

A remote German farm harbours generations of secrets. Four women, separated by decades but united by trauma, uncover the truth behind its weathered walls.

In his 4-star review in The Guardian, Peter Bradshaw describes the film as “a mysterious and uncanny prose-poem of guilt, shame and yearning in 20th-century Germany, and the 21st; a drama of intergenerational trauma and genetic memories, visions and experiences suppressed and handed on to descendants and grandchildren in whom they can return as neurotic symptoms of the repressed.”

The film will start at 8pm with no trailers or adverts.

I'm sorry to say that we will not be showing
"A Magnificent Life" tomorrow night.

We have just had word from the cinema that they can’t get this film until later in the year.

I know this will be disappointing but in its place we will be showing a fantastic film, the multi-award-winning Brazilian political thriller:

“The Secret Agent”

In 1977, a technology expert flees from a mysterious past and returns to his hometown of Recife in search of peace. He soon realizes that the city is far from being the refuge he seeks.

Film starts at 8pm sharp! No adverts! £6 on the door for non-members.

Our film tomorrow will be the Japanese/US comedy-drama, starring Oscar-winning actor Brendan Fraser:

"Rental Family"

An American actor in Tokyo struggling to find purpose, lands an unusual gig: working for a Japanese "rental family" agency, playing stand-in roles for strangers. He rediscovers purpose, belonging, and the beauty of human connection.
