LITTLE lightning

LITTLE lightning Pop-up restaurant cinema in the glorious Sussex countryside. Wine & 2 course set-menus movie themed. Tickets are strictly limited and NOT available on the door.

For one weekend a month over the summer, the Little Lightning is setting up in Lurgashall for cosy and chic pop-up restaurant cinema events within a traditional Sussex barn. At just £29 each event includes a two-course set menu themed on the nationality of the film and a glass of sparkling wine on arrival. The emphasis is on informality so there is a continuous bar and informal seating throughout.

The season runs from July to September and includes, British, New York, Spanish and Italian themes with delicious food and wine. To help with catering, all tickets are sold in advance. These events will be very informal and social. Great films, great food, great fun and a wonderful location. www.littlelightning.uk

Have you got your tickets yet?

We’ve sharpened our knives and are cooking on gas this season having given the kitchen a huge makeover - I barely recognise it.
Some photo’s to share shortly as I start to unwrap and prepare the barn this weekend for our opening later this month. I cannot wait to see you.

The Invisible Man is an absolute masterpiece and remains contemporary with incredible special effects by John P Fulton that still astound and amaze.

I was planting some petunias in the garden yesterday and I came across a roman arena, “which was nice”.

Between Midhurst & Chichester in the South Downs National Park, the remains, or clues of, a Roman gladiatorial arena have been found in someone’s garden - a lions tooth.

This reminded me of the Mark Williams ‘one-upmanship’ character in The Fast Show, always relaying something outrageous whilst pouring a coffee in the kitchen.

I can only remember finding Victorian bottles in our garden.

This is the fabulous Berth coffee that we monopolised for breakfast each day during our stay in Tokyo. It sits on a corner spot with a stepped terrace into which you have a lovely geometric fronted wooden bar, and then a tantalisingly cosy basement bar.

The space is full of natural materials of a design that chimes with Lloyd Wrights Usonian homes - of which I am a massive fan.

Should you be in the neighbourhood, but especially if you’re not, race across town to this place.

Japan, such a swinging city. I’ve just been lucky enough to spend a decent period of time working in Tokyo and it’s hard to know where to start. The Japanese are incredible at detail, and I think these tasty treats sum them up for food.
Have you ever seen anything like them? They are a Mochi fruit and however much I see them, it’s hard to believe they are real and edible fruits.
