Featuring a special introduction by our collaborator Tiago De Luca Tiago de Luca

Manoel, a young cowherd who murders a wealthy ranch owner and flees to the drought-ridden hinterlands of northern Brazil with his wife Rosa. Outlawed, the couple is plunged into a moral dilemma between embracing religious fanaticism under a mystic self-proclaimed saint and a life of brutality amongst rural peasant bandits, while the authorities hire a gunman known as Antonio Das Mortes to track them down.

This audacious and fearless award-winning film, celebrated for its fusion of mysticism, folklore, and examination of social injustice, was hugely influential in shaping the Cinema Novo movement.

Salome, Salome, Salome was so moving, how beautiful is to share the love for great films. All those conversations around doing an endless run of Salome that would explore the many and varied versions and adaptations of the play and the myth filled us with energy and inspiration.

Many things to our incredible guest speakers jaye🖤hudson and for helping us see through the veils. 🤍

Amidst the veils, immerse yourself in the hypnotic Salome by experimental filmmaker Teo Hernández 🇲🇽 – a visual and melodramatic experience. The film, which blends Mexican tradition, boleros and a freely adapted version of the myth and the play, is a journey for the senses.
