One of my professional adventures was also being a Film Festival Director.
In this picture, I’m standing next to my friend Alessandro on one side, and William Nicholson on the other.
Some of you may know Alessandro- he’s a great guy.
And some of you will certainly know William Nicholson for his writing. You may recall a little film called Gladiator, directed by a guy called Ridley Scott.
Anyway, William was kind enough to be interviewed by me, and he was incredibly generous with the audience. He TRULY enjoyed being there!!!
One thing he said that stayed with me was that, as a writer, one of the best things you can do is follow your instincts.
So, no long boring chats about structure and all that stuff!
Thank you, William, for such a genuinely amazing conversation.
P.S. One day, I also called William and- after telling him how much I admired his work- I shamelessly asked him to write the screenplay for my debut feature film.
Freaking shameless request indeed!! 😂
I ended up writing the whole screenplay for Blurred myself, but that night, during the interview, I honestly learned more than I have in many film masterclasses.
Thank you, William.
Long live indie films!!
(And the Gladiator!)
