The essence of Film Tottenham has been built on screening short films and interviewing their filmmakers. People with so many different backgrounds and life experiences showcasing their work, in person, to a general audience. In the first 3 years of Film Tottenham, our Tottenham Shorts event clocked up 23 short film screening nights with over 75 short films screened, live performances, spoken word art. We’ll be back with the 24th edition of Tottenham Shorts very soon. We know people miss that and we do too! Tottenham Film Festival will also be back next year, just as RAW as previous years. The red carpet is still intact and will need a good ole hoover!! In the meantime we’re running feature films and continuing the building blocks of a film community in Tottenham. This Is England, is the story of a summertime school holiday, those long weeks between terms where life changing events can take place. It’s 1983 and school is out. 12-year-old Shaun (Thomas Turgoose) is an isolated lad growing up in a grim coastal town, whose father has died fighting in the Falklands war. Over the course of the summer holiday he finds fresh male role models when those in the local skinhead scene take him in. With his new friends Shaun discovers a world of parties, first love and the joys of Dr Martin boots. Here he also meets Combo (Stephen Graham), an older, racist skinhead who has recently got out of prison. As Combo’s gang harass the local ethnic minorities, the course is set for a rite of passage that will hurl Shaun from innocence to experience.

Film Tottenham presents Rebel Party!

With support from Film London Film London , the BFI Film Audience Network and the National Lottery, Film Tottenham aim to build on their community cinema programme bringing Rebellion and Party to the Beehive pub with vibrant imagery and characters that ignite! Starting in August, and part of Rip It Up, a major BFI and Film Audience Network UK-wide season the programme will include Quadrophenia, Twin Town, Young Soul Rebels, Human Traffic, Trainspotting, It’s All Gone Pete Tong and This Is England. There will be post film discussions and some screenings will have special guests including artist Reggiimental, indie filmmaker Gary Thomas and documentary filmmaker Alessandro Ugo

This time it’s war! This month Aliens is 40 years old. As part of our “Action Woman” season we’re screening Aliens on 26th July at The Beehive. We’ll be projecting onto a screen in the function room using their sound system! After the film stay with us for a post film discussion about Ripley and the story of the film.
