This award-winning documentary has earned critical acclaim for the remarkable journey of resilience it takes us on in climate-change affected rural India. It shines a light on how love and community transcend isolation and economic struggle.

Join us on Thursday 30 July for the deeply moving and beautifully cinematic documentary Marching in the Dark, directed by Kinshuk Surjan (Kinshuk Surjan), followed by a live virtual Q&A with the director.

After her farmer-husband’s su***de, Sanjivani intends to build a better future for herself and her children. She struggles against her culture’s traditional abandonment of widows, until she joins a discussion group with other farmer-su***de widows. Empowered by community, shared stories of resilience, and unexpected solidarity, Sanjivani cautiously forges a path forward.

is pleased to present Felipe Bustos Sierra ’s EVERYBODY TO KENMURE STREET which tells the story of community resistance on Kenmure Street, Glasgow. In May 2021, a UK Home Office dawn raid triggers one of the most spontaneous and successful acts of civil resistance in recent memory. In Pollokshields, Scotland’s most diverse neighbourhood, hundreds of residents rush to the streets to stop the deportation of their neighbours.

Made with contributions from the community that participated and testimonies from the day along with reconstruction this is powerful story, embedded in the history of Glasgow, community action. and our collective agency to make change.

It was 5 years ago this week that community resistance on Kenmure Street, Glasgow resulted in the release of the two men that a Home Office immigration enforcement team had arrived to detain.

Felipe Bustos Sierra ’s EVERYBODY TO KENMURE STREET tells the story of that day with contributions from more than 30 people. Working with archive and reconstructed footage this is a hopeful film about the power of community and our collective agency to make change. It’s great to be for this community screening.

We are pleased to welcome activist and lawyer Aamer Anwar who features in the film to take part in an online Q&A afterwards.

‘The Land that Binds Us’ by Daniella Baldock ( ) is a WIP screened as part of Rough Cut screening at Otherfield.

In the Scottish Highlands, a seasoned crofter teaches a young apprentice the rhythms of working sheep, cattle, and land. The Land That Binds Us quietly reflects on identity, romanticism, and how rural communities are being reshaped.

Please join the screening in a safe space and share your constructive feedback with the filmmaker.

As part of our Rough Cut screening we invite you to join a safe space for constructive feedback, ideas and susggestions.

Nirmala Lan Hessellund ( ) will share her WIP “The Orchid Hunt” (WT) exploring themes of belonging, memory and preservation of the nearly invisible.

Some people speak of landscape as the earliest expression forming a culture. Here preserving plants becomes about preserving culture. In the forests of Taiwan, a man hunts for endangered orchids as a woman searches for belonging in the Taiwanese landscape. But what does it mean to be preserving nature in the face of ecological destruction? And what does it mean to find belonging on disputed land?

💡 Workshop: The Movement of Attention: A Dyadic Filming Practice

This workshop invites participants to slow down and engage in the acts of filming and being filmed from a place of embodied presence. 

Through dyadic exchange, we explore how attention moves between self, other, and context, and how this shapes the experience of filming.

The concept of dyadic exchange relates to non fiction - in terms of relationships, power dynamics, and ethics between filmmaker and subject.

Working in pairs, participants alternate between the roles of filmmaker (the one who frames) and subject (the one who is seen). Using their own phones or cameras, participants follow a guided score that explores shifting attention. Recording is optional—the primary aim is presence.
