‘An irresistible, heart-warming comedy’

In this hilariously relatable Irish comedy, Edward (James McArdle), is a talented novelist on the cusp of literary success. His life comprises of juggling his work with the responsibility of caring for his elderly mother, Alma (Fionnula Flanagan).

As his publishers pressure him to go on a US publicity tour, his three friends unexpectedly dump their elderly mums on him, whilst they head off on an impromptu PRIDE getaway to Spain,

Edward – decent guy that he is - is left to deal with these four eccentric, formidably opinionated and difficult ladies over the course of one chaotic weekend in Dublin!

Winner of the BFI London Film Festival Audience Award, this uplifting comedy-drama follows an unlikely found family on an emotionally charged journey of self-discovery and acceptance.

‘This charming film will have audiences laughing and crying in the same beat.’

We hope you can join us for our final screening at Haworth Cinema.

Thank you to all our volunteers, and you, our audience for all your support over the years!

We hope to see as many familiar faces as we can. There will be a farewell drink in The Old Sun afterwards. All welcome.

After 15 seasons and over 250 films, we are sorry to announce that Haworth Cinema will close its doors after our next film, ‘Four Mothers’ on Friday 13th February.

Rising costs, declining audience numbers, and increased competition from other platforms have unfortunately made the cinema no longer financially viable. We make this decision reluctantly after four years without Keith at the helm.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our fantastic volunteers for their invaluable time and effort, and you, our audience, for your continued support. It’s been a joy to watch so many magnificent films in such marvellous company!

Watch out for the ‘Four Mothers’ review – coming soon – and please join us for our final screening on Friday 13th February 7:30pm; followed by a farewell drink in The Old Sun.
Everyone welcome!

(Haworth Cinema was always a voluntary non-profit making venture, started to combat loneliness in the community and so any remaining monies will be donated to local charities that continue this work.)

Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning (12A)

Friday 12th December at 7pm

‘Every choice, every mission, has all led to this.’

Tom Cruise stars as Ethan Hunt in the final instalment of this action packed franchise.

Along with his talented team, (Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Hayley Atwell) he is in pursuit of a dangerous AI called The Entity, which has infiltrated global intelligence.

The Entity has taken control of much of the planet, destroying economies and technology, and is taking steps to take over the world’s nuclear arsenals as well. To stop it, Hunt and his team must find The Entity’s source code, hidden in sunken Russian sub, The Sevastopol, as well as a “poison pill” to destroy it. With governments and enemies from his past in hot pursuit, can he accomplish his mission in time?

Packed with spectacular stunts and high octane action, Cruise displays his characteristic flair for the impossible. Once again performing his own stunts, his performances in the underwater and airplane scenes are unbelievably epic!

The Final Reckoning is a fitting, sentimental send-off for Ethan Hunt.

‘I knew you’d find a way, you always do.”(Luther) (2 hr 49 mins)

‘Brady Corbet’s audacious architecture drama is a monumental achievement.’

Holocaust survivor and visionary architect László Toth (Adrien Brody) flees post – war Europe for America - to rebuild his life, his work, and his marriage to his wife Erzsébet.

Hoping for a brighter future, they settle in Pennsylvania, where their lives are changed forever by a mysterious and wealthy client - the prominent industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren.

Recognizing his talent for building, the seemingly charming Van Buren offers László and his family the American Dream on a silver platter. He commissions him to design a grand modernist monument, to help shape the landscape of the country he now calls home. It will be the most ambitious project of his career - but power and legacy come at a heavy cost. The project will take László and Erzsébet to both monumental heights and devastating lows.

Nominated for 10 Academy awards, Winner of 3 Oscars (2025) and 3 Golden Globes including Best Picture this film is not to be missed.

Brody heads a stellar cast including Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce. Brody's soulful performance, as Toth richly deserved his 2025 Oscar for Best Actor in leading role – ‘his gaunt, haunted portrayal is of a man whose pain is so close to the surface you can almost see the raw nerve endings.’

There will be an interval for refreshment/ices half way through the film. (3 hr 36 mins)

‘Heart-warming, heart-breaking and hilarious!’

A beautiful and magical movie set against the backdrop of a very difficult time in Argentina’s history.

Based on the bestselling book, this film is inspired by the true memoirs of an English school teacher Tom Michell.

Set during the political turmoil and 1976 coup in Argentina, Tom (brilliantly played by Steve Coogan) is a disillusioned teacher who decides to take a teaching job at a prestigious but stuffy private college in Buenos Aires. He expects an easy ride, teaching the sons of wealthy Argentinians and expatriates, despite the watchful eye of the overbearing head teacher, played by Jonathan Pryce.

As he makes his way to Argentina, he stops off en route for a holiday to Uruguay. Here, he rescues a penguin from an oil slicked beach and his life is turned upside down!

He finds himself responsible for this bedraggled bird and ends up smuggling it back to Argentina with him. Many comical adventures ensue with his ‘companion’ who he names Juan Salvador.

With a divided nation and continuing political turmoil, Tom is faced with a class of unteachable students. Despondent and lonely Juan Salvador is his only friend. But his life begins to change when the bird's presence starts to have a positive effect on the school. Tom finally opens himself up to the world again.

‘The Penguin Lessons’ shines with warmth and charm through Steve Coogan and his touching bond with a rescued penguin. While it softens Argentina’s dictatorship backdrop, its sincere moments deliver a heartfelt, uplifting story. (1 hr 50 mins)
