Electric Palace Hastings The Electric Palace is an independent bijou cinema in the heart of Hastings Old Town. We also put on live comedy, music and theatre events. Visit us soon!

This specially developed cinema aims to bring to Hastings a wide choice of films and film related events, with regular screenings of Contemporary, Classic and World Cinema. We have a licenced bar and offer a tempting ran

ge of refreshments such as Green & Blacks Chocolates, organic wine, local beers including Hastings Brewery ales, miniature bottles of Prosecco, and alcoholic ginger beer. We rely on a team of volunteers to staff the screenings and on your ongoing support to maintain a diverse and exciting programme. The Electric Palace is open to everyone. You are welcome to book tickets in advance through this website or simply turn up before the screenings. Doors open 45 minutes before each performance. Cult reggae sound clash story set in 80s London. Brutal, gritty and starring Brinsley Forde (Aswad, The Double Deckers). The film features a reggae and dub soundtrack which includes artists such as Yabby U, I-Roy, Aswad, and Dennis Bovell and is a potent mix of music and social commentary.

🥪 PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK

👒 Peter Weir’s simmering, haunting, dreamlike masterpiece tells the story of three students and a teacher who disappeared in 1900.

☀️ Based on the iconic 1967 novel by Joan Lindsay, Picnic at Hanging Rock's eerie atmosphere, stunning cinematography, and refusal to provide a definitive answer to its central mystery make it a tantalising, dreamlike masterpiece.

🏜️At its heart is a mystery: three students and a school teacher disappear on an excursion to Hanging Rock, in Victoria, on Valentine's Day, 1900.

👁️The movie follows those that disappeared, and those that stayed behind, but it delights in the asking of questions, not the answering of them. Even though both the movie and the book it was based on claim to be inspired by real events, the story is completely fictional.

The screening will be introduced by author and EP volunteer Mel Salisbury, whose excellent new book, Local Gods is out now.
