Here's where you'll find out about our workshops, with films, fragrances and formulas. Artisan perfume making for people with an interest in creating scents, and also for those who might one day like to start their own fragrance business. We also have a private Facebook group, Scenthusiasm, for perfume maker patrons in our Patreon community, the Slow Scent School:

We returned to Barnes Methodist Church for our two perfume making workshops, our fourth annual sell-out session at Barnes Fragrance Fair. This year I brought some rare naturals that I'm currently working with at 4160Tuesdays including sugiwood, periploca, kumquat, barley, carrot absolute and white Paris mushroom, so that was fun!
Great windows. Great crowd.
All being well, we'll be back in 2027!

It's been a full to bursting fortnight over at the Scenthusiasm Studio.
It started with a request for 12 themed aromas which could be blended to make bespoke fragrances for 300 people at a secret Central London address. One week creating original, appealing accords. One Bank Holiday weekend turning them into IFRA compliant liquids.
One afternoon looking after appreciative clients.
Are we glad we did it?
😃
Would we do it again?
🤔😴
Now we have the ultimate perfume party kit!

The most level of playing fields sees the fragrance I made with Joanne Harris in the same category as one by Givaudan for Amouage.

Exploring new materials is one of my favourite parts of making perfume.
I start by incorporating them into an accord or a finished fragrance that I'm really familiar with because it's not just about what they smell like alone, it's how they behave in company. It's like introducing a new acquaintance to your friends group.
First impressions are often wrong.
I always aim to use as few as possible in a perfume, just as Calkin & Jellinek recommended.
But sometimes a new material is do delicious I want to build a whole new fragrance around it and see what happens.
What are you working on, perfumers?
