Some very positive news for cinema accessibility this week.

Vue is rolling out the Auri assistive listening system across more than 200 screens in the UK and Ireland – and we’re very pleased that the Omnex team has been playing a part in supplying and installing the technology.

Developed by Ampetronic | Listen Technologies, Auri uses Auracast™ technology to make cinema audio more accessible, including the ability for people with compatible hearing aids, cochlear implants, headphones or earbuds to receive audio directly through their own devices.

It can also support audio description and provide additional options for customers who may benefit from a more personalised listening experience.

It’s great to see Vue investing in this area, alongside the work being done by a growing number of cinemas to make their venues more accessible.

Wednesday was one of those days that reminds you why our industry is such a special one.

Omnex is proud to be supporting Cinema Rediscovered at Watershed in Bristol this week, where we've worked alongside Christie Digital to provide the projection technology for the festival's main screen, showcasing the latest Christie Hybrid laser projector throughout the event.

During Wednesday's Reframing Film Sessions, Mark Kendall from Christie joined Omnex's Simon Tandy and Darren Briggs to discuss the technology itself and the practical considerations of introducing new projection systems into a working cinema—from installation and integration through to commissioning and long-term support

Now in its 10th year, Cinema Rediscovered celebrates restored classics, archive cinema and the shared experience of watching great films on the big screen, while bringing together exhibitors, programmers, archivists, distributors and film lovers from across the UK and beyond.

It also happened to be the unofficial "Bring Your Daughter to Work Day".

Raiha joined us to experience a little of what makes the cinema industry so unique. She met the brilliant team at Aardman , created her own Shaun the Sheep, explored the festival and spent time with people whose passion is preserving and sharing cinema with future generations.

What other industry can bring together cutting-edge projection technology, restored and rediscovered films, independent cinemas—and capture the imagination of an 11-year-old at the same time?

Seeing the day through the eyes of an 11-year-old was a reminder that cinema still has an incredible ability to inspire curiosity, creativity and imagination. Judging by the smile on her face, I think cinema may have gained another lifelong supporter.

This time last week we celebrated Omnex’s 40th anniversary, at the beautiful Northern Light Cinema, and we’re still smiling.

It was a real privilege to welcome around 70 guests from across the cinema industry to celebrate with us. Customers, partners, colleagues and friends all together in one room made for a very special occasion.

To everyone who joined us, thank you for helping make the evening such a memorable one. We also know there are many others who have supported Omnex over the years who couldn’t be with us on the night, but whose support has been every bit as important to our journey.

The evening was exactly what we hoped it would be: great company, good food, plenty of conversation, a few drinks, a special private cinema screening and, for good measure, a magician who kept everyone entertained and wondering how he did it!

More than anything, the evening reminded us what makes this industry so special. Over the past 40 years we’ve built lasting relationships based on trust, friendship and a shared passion for delivering great cinema experiences.

To everyone who has been part of the Omnex story over the last four decades, thank you. We genuinely appreciate your support and look forward to what comes next.
