We are super excited to announce the return of Scarred For Life to the Partington Theatre in Glossop this December, for a brand new festive themed live show!!!

From the BBC’s Ghost Stories For Christmas to The Box of Delights, the festive periods of the 1970’s and 80s provided a flurry of creepy TV thrills. In this brand new live show, Stephen Brotherstone – co-writer of the acclaimed Scarred For Life books – joins Fortean Times columnist Bob Fischer to unwrap the lingering trauma of all our childhood Christmases.

Tremble beneath the tinsel as Stephen and Bob take a fun but informative rummage through the creepier side of the festive season. Got a gigantic bottle of Warninks Advocaat? And Christmas decorations held together with saliva? You’re all set. Open a tatty selection box full of undersized Curly Wurlies and prepare to relive your yuletide nightmares of Worzel Gummidge, The Stone Tape, Come Back Lucy, K9 and Company, The Woman in Black, Jackanory Spine Chillers... and many, many more! Including that weird episode of Bergerac where it all goes a bit Folk Horror.

Since 2017, Stephen Brotherstone has been expertly chronicling the terrifying popular culture of the 1970s and ‘80s as co-writer of the acclaimed Scarred For Life books. Fortean Times columnist Bob Fischer, meanwhile, is the creator of The Haunted Generation, a multi-media exploration of the weirder side of the 1970s childhood.

Join us in Glossop's iconic Partington Theatre for a BRAND NEW festive live show, following a SOLD OUT event back in April 2025, this one is sure to be an unforgettable Christmas presence.

We're getting in the Halloween mood with our next screening, the classic horror-comedy An American Werewolf In London (1981) which turns 45 this year!

When two American backpackers stray off the path on the Yorkshire moors things take a turn for the hairy...

John Landis's iconic film manages to walk the difficult tightrope between being genuinely funny and frequently frightening, and also features an absolutely cracking soundtrack, alongside legendary make-up effects by Rick Baker (Men In Black).

Come and join us upstairs at The Globe Glossop from 5pm on Sunday October 18th for the usual Glossop Cinema Club shenanigans, including an intro, prizes, short films, and more...

You'd be barking mad to miss it. (Hopefully there won't be too many terrible wolf jokes on the night.)
