A big thank you to those that came along last night to our first BSO concert screening (Adventurous Journeys). It was great to see so many familiar faces and a number of new faces. We have received very favourable feedback, and it seems a most enjoyable evening was had by all. For those who are hungry for more, our next BSO concert screening, entitled ‘Kissed by a Rose’ will be at 7pm on Thursday 28 January.

Sirāt is a 2025 drama road film directed by Óliver Laxe and co-written by Santiago Fillol and Laxe. It follows a father (Sergi López) in search of his missing daughter along with his son and a group of ravers in the deserts of southern Morocco. The film had its world premiere on 15 May 2025 in the main competition of the 78th Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize. At the 98th Academy Awards, it was nominated for Best International Feature Film and Best Sound.

The bar will be open from 6.30pm and ice creams will be available in the interval.

Dear Friends,

We need your help to make something new work at Gillingham Community Cinema.

This autumn we are taking an exciting step beyond our regular film programme and bringing Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra concerts to Gillingham on the big screen. We think this could become a wonderful addition to what GCC offers our community – but whether we can continue with these concert screenings will depend very much on your support. Quite simply, we need people to come!
We have already committed to three BSO concerts over the coming months, and we would love this to be the beginning of a regular programme. But GCC is a small organisation run entirely by volunteers, and we can only continue to bring events like these to Gillingham if there is an audience for them. So, if you enjoy classical music, please support this new venture by booking for our first BSO concert on Thursday 8 October. And if you have friends, family or neighbours who might enjoy it, please tell them about it and encourage them to come too.

Beethoven's First Symphony is bursting with youthful energy and already gives us a glimpse of the revolutionary composer he was to become.
Then comes something altogether more dramatic. The Ring: An Orchestral Adventure takes us on a thrilling journey through Wagner's monumental Ring cycle, bringing together some of its most powerful and spectacular orchestral music.
It's a wonderful programme with which to launch our BSO screenings – dramatic, accessible and made to be enjoyed with the impact of a big screen and excellent sound.

We would really love to fill the VSR for this first concert. A good audience on 8 October will give us the confidence to continue bringing high-quality orchestral concerts to Gillingham.

We're excited to share some big news about the next chapter for Gillingham Community Cinema.

Many of you already enjoy our monthly film screenings, and from this autumn we're expanding our programme to bring world-class concert experiences to Gillingham on the big screen.
We've now booked three spectacular Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra concert presentations, giving you the opportunity to experience outstanding performances with crystal-clear picture and cinema-quality sound – all without travelling to a major concert hall.
Whether you're a lifelong classical music lover or simply enjoy great live music, these evenings promise to be a wonderful experience.

Elgar's Dream
• Elgar – The Dream of Gerontius
One of Britain's greatest musical masterpieces, this magnificent work for orchestra, chorus and soloists is a deeply moving and uplifting experience that has captivated audiences for over a century.

These concerts will be presented in high definition on our large cinema screen with superb sound, allowing you to enjoy every detail of the orchestra and performers from the comfort of your seat.
As always, presentations will begin at 7.00 pm at the Vicarage Schoolrooms, Queen Street, Gillingham and the usual ice cream and alcoholic drinks will be available.

If you've never been to a classical concert before, why not give one a try? You may be surprised by how accessible, exciting and entertaining orchestral music can be. We'll send full ticket details nearer each event, but we wanted to give everyone plenty of notice so you can save the dates.
