Established in 1987 and led by Nerve Centre, Foyle Film Festival is Northern Ireland's only Oscarยฎ and BAFTA-affiliated film festival. Celebrating its 38th year in 2025, Foyle Film Festival takes place in venues across Derry~Londonderry each November to bring the best of international cinema and industry players to the city. The festival also delivers screenings, events and workshops throughout th

e year, including the Intercultural Festival, and Educational and Community Outreach Screenings. The prestigious Light In Motion (LIM) competition is open to filmmakers and animators across the world, with winners qualifying for consideration in the Live Action and Animated Short Film categories of the Academy Awardsยฎ and BAFTA

Two brothers flee their fighting parents as they make the trek to Di**le, Co. Kerry in the hope of reconnecting with their estranged, beloved Grandfather (Bill Nighy), who their parents havenโ€™t spoken to since the fateful events of the previous summer. From BAFTA-winner Morgan Matthews.

Many congratulations to our festival friends Damian McCann and Sarah Gordon as their film 'Aontas' has just been selected as Ireland's official entry for this year's Academy Awards! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฅณโ˜˜๏ธ๐Ÿ†

๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ We had the honour of hosting a sold-out preview of the acclaimed Irish-language thriller at our 38th festival back in November... and even then we knew it was only a matter of time before it received major recognition. This really couldn't have gone to a more deserving duo โค๏ธโค๏ธ

๐Ÿคž We're crossing all fingers and toes for Damian, Sarah and the whole 'Aontas' team as the Oscar shortlists are set to be announced on Tuesday 15 December ๐Ÿ‘€

Recorded in handwritten notes, the calls made through this network were preserved during a time of profound constitutional change in Ireland, when women were fighting for their rights in a restrictive and conservative society.

In this intimate documentary, the women look back at images of their younger selves and speak directly to the lives they have lived โ€” the joys, struggles, friendships, love and resilience that have shaped them.
