🎬 HELP SAVE THE MAGIC OF FILM AT CROSS HANDS CINEMA! 🍿
Built by local miners in 1904, Cross Hands Public Hall & Cinema has been the heart of our community for over 100 years. Today, we’re thriving with regular weekly screenings, live performances, and community events—but we've hit a major hurdle.
Our current projector is reaching the end of its life, it may last a short time or it could go on for a few more years but this is a very difficult situation to predict. To keep our doors open and upgrade to modern digital cinema quality, we desperately need your help to raise funds for a new projector before we find ourselves in a difficult situation. Technology advances quickly and there are many reasons why our current projector may not last very much longer, therefore raising money for a replacement has become a priority.

WHY DOES CROSS HANDS CINEMA MATTER?: 🤔
The cinema brings the community, young and old, together.
We have a regular following of local people who attend the cinema on a weekly basis.
We show the latest releases ( about 4 weeks after their release in mainstream cinemas), we open our doors consistently on a Friday, Monday and Tuesday. Depending on the film we also offer Matinee performances on Saturdays and other days a week.
We have a busy timetable of events on other days which includes live performances and fundraising events to help support the ongoing upkeep of our beautiful building.
We have a monthly Silver Screening where members of our community attend for tea, a slice of cake and to chat about a classic film which we show on that morning. This event is enormously popular and may be one of the only times some of these attendees enjoy social contact outside their homes.
We show Free Community Films, where we open the doors for free to local families and their children. We aim to do this at least 3 times in a year, for some children this is the only time they might get to visit the cinema and experience the big screen.
We have a large group of volunteers with specific talents that not only support the on going day to day functioning of the cinema/charity but are an extended family support to the community and to each other. We extend a warm welcome to all.

We especially offer young volunteers the opportunity to gain valuable work and life experience to help with their future aspirations and careers.
This building, the cinema and the community centre, have been at the heart of the community for over 100 years.
