We have been thriving in Cheltenham for 80 years, and currently have over 450 members - of different ages, backgrounds and interests. We are not an art house or academic society, but we aim to stimulate interest in different aspects of world cinema by showing excellent films from a range of directors in different genres.

Our next film on 23 September is ‘I’m Still Here’. Set in Brazil, 1971, under the tightening newly instituted military dictatorship, the film highlights the struggles of the Pavia family when Rubens Pavia, a critic of the regime, is taken for questioning and does not return. This winner of the 2025 Oscar for Best International Feature is a truly stunning film.

We start the new season this evening with a screening of ‘A Real Pain’, a wonderfully observed portrait of two estranged cousins honouring their roots. Bittersweet and honest, it moves skilfully between comedy and thoughtful drama.
