Meet a Mermaid!
Our resident mermaid, Treasure of the Sea, will be waiting to welcome guests inside her Coral Grotto near the Shark Wall, in our rear foyer. Kids can meet her, pose for magical photos and hear stories from beneath the waves!

Mini Monsters Tour – 11:00am
Join our guided family tour through the Edge of Rainforest zone and discover the weird, wonderful and gruesome survival secrets of some of nature’s smallest monsters.

Rockpool Workshop – 4:00pm
Learn about life in the rockpool, discover beachcombing tips and get hands-on with fascinating artefacts including shells, cuttlefish bone, lobster claws and more.

Monster Hunter Log Book Trail
Grab your activity sheet when you arrive to track down the aquarium’s most monstrous residents and discover their amazing powers as you traverse our seven bio-zones!

To celebrate the start of May Half Term and our “Mermaids and Monsters” event at Bristol Aquarium , we are putting on a screening of this beloved tale of knights and dragons on our ! 🔥

Starring an incredible cast including Sean Connery, Dennis Quaid, Julie Christie, David Thewlis, Jason Isaacs and Pete Postlethwaite this sumptuous slice of 90s fantasy is made to be watched in a cinema. Don't miss your chance to see it on the biggest screen in Bristol!

Forbidden Worlds Film Festival 2026 lineup is here! ⚔️

Prepare for high adventure as Forbidden Worlds returns to Bristol Megascreen from 23-26 April to celebrate the cinematic world of fantastical myths and legends from around the world.

This April, Forbidden Worlds Film Festival 2026 is unleashing a line-up of classic and cult films featuring everything from mythical realms and otherworldly landscapes to ferocious beasts and heroic warriors.

Highlights include:

⚔️A screening of the new 4K restoration of Excalibur (1981) from Arrow Video, with special guests Charley Boorman and legendary armourer Terry English who will be showcasing some of the props from the film

⚡A 40th anniversary screening of Highlander (1986) hosted by Jonathan Melville, author of A Kind of Magic: Making the Original Highlander and the forthcoming Art & Making of Highlander from Titan Books

⚔️A rare screening of wuxia fantasy adventure The Bride With White Hair (1993), preceded by a panel about women’s role in fantasy featuring Mara Gold, author of Ancient Myths and Legends Without Men and film journalist and Empire Magazine’s ‘Geek Queen’ Helen O’Hara, author of Women Vs Hollywood: The Fall and Rise of Women In Film and hosted by Archaeo-Heritage Film's Ellie Hendricks

🛡️Clash of the Titans (1981) introduced by The Ray and Diana Harryhausen Foundation about the effect Greek myths had on legendary stop-motion animator Ray Harryhausen

🐺The Director’s Cut of French horror-adventure The Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001) to mark its 25th anniversary

🔥A rare screening of Fire and Ice (1983), the iconic animated adventure from Frank Frazetta (Frazetta Girls), the Godfather of fantasy art and Ralph Bakshi, the director of the original animated Lord of the Rings

🐉Tremble in fear at cinema’s most iconic dragon, Vermithrax Pejorative, created by Phil Tippett, in Dragonslayer (1981) plus a presentation on The Evolution of Dragons in Popular Culture

🎥The UK premieres of new 4K restorations of Lucio Fulci’s Conquest (1983) and Spanish fantasy/sci-fi curio Star Knight (1985)
