🔫 SCREENING ANNOUNCEMENT! 📢
Join and .screen to celebrate Gemini season with a doppelgänger double bill at on 5th June, with feature Dead Ringers on 16mm and accompanying short A Kind of Testament.
DEAD RINGERS (1988) is David Cronenberg’s tragic, clinical character study of gynaecologists Elliot and Beverly (Jeremy Irons), identical twins who share everything - their home, their medical practice and even their sexual conquests. Dead Ringers avoids explicit body horror while still demonstrating Cronenberg’s fascination with physical and mental transformation, charting the slow steady unravelling of the twins’ relationship and the toll it takes on them. Don’t miss this rare chance to see it projected on 16mm film, from The Cinema Museum’s own collection.
Stephan Vuillemin’s eerie animated short A KIND OF TESTAMENT (2023) grafts Cronenbergian body horror onto digital space. A young woman’s world begins to unravel when she discovers a series of bizarre internet animations created from her private selfies, and tries to uncover the identity of their creator.
